    Obama's Sweetie

Americans weary of "bittergate" can rejoice. It's time for "sweetiegate."

The presidential election has veered onto another odd tangent, courtesy of Sen. Barack Obama, who uttered not an epithet nor insult against blue-collar workers — but a term of endearment.

On Wednesday, the Illinois Democrat called a female broadcast reporter "sweetie," the moment recorded for posterity on video. In 24 hours, the three-second exchange had inspired global news coverage, follow-up stories from the offended correspondent and a debate on both feminism and news credibility.

    Oh, the drama.

Wow. I'm all for Obama bashing, but this is a little ridiculous.

It is beyond crazy. It's stupid and not even newsworthy. People say things like that all of the time. It really doesn't mean anything. I can go to the VA Medical Center, and one of the older ladies working their might come up to me and say "Good Morning Sweetheart." I wouldn't feel offended. If someone does feel offended by such a comment, they should just tell the person and let it go. They are really searching and reaching deep to get him. What a circus this has become.

I agree. "Sweetie"? LOL The woman was probably secretely flattered but seen the chance at her 15 minutes of fame & grabbed it. I bet nobody ever heard of that reporter before Obama made her "famous".
She & all the other "eaten alive with PC" needs to take a break & chill.

Actually it isn't if you watch and listen to it, he was extremely condesending and it reeks of sexism. If I was say at the corporate office where there are lots of people working I don't know and a woman came up to me to ask me something and I turned to her and did as he did, she would have a valid complaint. It was demeaning.

Not in a professional atmosphere, women have won some hard fought battles to end such condesencion by males.

    You do know he appologized.

But still this is getting a little out of hand. A coment such as that has very little meaning and should be disregarded, rather than making a huge spectacle about it.

So the woman reporter should just shut up and take it.

He appologized, it was very condesending (sp?) especially to a professional doing her duty whom he does not know. Women fought long and hard not to have men treat them as the lower class.

What is amazing is how easily these issues which the left fought so hard for are so quickly dropped when it is one of their own engaged in violating them. They did it with Clinton and treatment of subordinate female employes in the workplace, and now here when they try to defend Obama's gaffe.

I am not saying that it wasn't condesending, but I think that it should be a private issue, rather than being made into a large spectacle before the entire nation.
