College Student Charged with Assaulting Cop with M&Ms

A college student whose friend was being questioned in a hit and run found himself charged with assaulting an officer with a curious choice of weapons: M&Ms.

Sean McGuire was arrested early Sunday at a convenience store after Drake University security guards noticed the colored candies falling on the ground around the officer. When the officer turned around, an M&M hit his shoulder, according to a police report.

McGuire claimed he threw the candy because he was "sticking up for his friend," who apparently was the man suspected in the accident, the report states.

McGuire, of Glenview, Ill., was released from jail Sunday after posting $1,000 bond. A telephone call to his cell phone Monday wasn't immediately returned.

Clearly the authors of the Second Amendment never anticipated the development of such high-tech weaponry as the M&M. Let's round up these dangerous weapons once and for all, so cops can rest easy without fear of assault.

Heres an idea- don't throw shit at cops.

A huge part of their job is to maintain a position of complete authority, it's
the best way to police the public as non-violently as possible.

But then Americans are becoming increasingly devoid of common sense.

Well look at it this way. He was in jail for a day. Wonder what he told the others in jail when they asked him what he was in for? :laughing::laughing:

The got exactly what he deserved. I hope he learned his lesson. Throw M&M's or anything at someone and you'll probably get decked. Throw them at a cop, especially while they are in the process carrying out their duty, you'll get arrested.

Back in the early 70's we were at a Mardi Gras day thing sitting in a park. Was in college at the time and we were all long hairs, as we called it back then. I wierdo hippie guy who went to the same college and went around all over always preaching some politcal garbage than ranged from leftist radical stuff to Hitler was going around the park spouting all this garbage and bothering people and well the police asked him to leave, thank you very much. And they were explaining to him he would have to stop or leave when one of my friends jumps up and runs over with his hand in the air yelling FREE SPEECH FREE SPEECH YOU CAN"T DO THAT. Well the cop just reached out grab his hand and said 'you're under arrest", interfering with an officer in the performance of his duties. They let the other guy go and he left. We didn't leave the party and go bail him out. Stupid is as stupid does.
