You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away people's initiative and independence.
You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves.

i believe richard reid was tried in a civilian court, and that was an identical crime.

No, not at all. we are either at war or we are not. Pick. which is it?
If we are at war then those that engage in battle against us, and are captured, ought fall under the jurisdiction of the US Military. There to be held till the end of hostilities or tried as illegal combatants/spies/saboteurs under the Laws of Land Warfare.You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
