    On with the mission

It was impossible to hold families back on Thursday when about 2,400 soldiers of the Ohio and Michigan Army National Guards marched across the post's Sadowski Field.

Mothers, fathers, wives, girlfriends, boyfriends, brothers, sisters and children – many toting cameras – rushed to the edge of the parade field's blacktop just to catch a glimpse of their soldiers. They desperately scanned each line of uniformed soldiers who marched by.

It was about 80 days ago that soldiers of the 37th Infantry Brigade Combat Team mobilized and began training at North Fort Hood, preparing for the largest single-unit deployment of Army National Guard soldiers since World War II
Today a woman came in the store and we got to talking, and she said her son is being deployed in this. He's a sniper. She's not happy about it.

I read the article and pulled this excerpt and I said to myself, "are you shittin' me?"

Cutler joked about Ohio's and Michigan's fierce rivalry on the football field, saying it was tremendous to see soldiers from those two states serving as one team on the battlefield.

Comparing going to war to a football game. Hey Cutler, you might never see your family again. Its not funny.

Goes right along with my theory that the US is a football nation with a war problem.

Thanks for posting this blueneck. I have a friend that I work with who is a part of this. I wish them well.
I imagine some are not happy and others aren't as upset. My friend, while probably not wanting to go to war was willing to take that risk for some financial incentives. He had a pretty cush range detail going, but there were no promotions there. So he transferred to the infantry and off he went.

I sometimes wonder if the poor economy is designed to get more young people to enlist.

Well that goes with out saying, Rangle has been trying to introduce a draft. He calls if something like "Civic Service" or some damn thing. He claims that it's not a draft but a way for the younger generation to earn collage money while serving the country. He is real quick to say that the enrollees can protect the docks, borders, and what have you. He talks about Iraq and admits that yes you may be sent there, but unlikely. Hey I wonder if he personally taught the recruiters to lie. His plan is fucked and I hope it does not see the light of day. If they want to draft their fodder then call it a draft, then lets see the filthy protesters take to the streets.

A draft is the best idea I've heard yet. If the American people want war, as the did in 2003, then they should be just as fast to put thier ass on the line as us. If they aren't, DONT GO TO FUCKING WAR!

Bluneck, I know how bad it seems when wives and sons and mothers are sepperated, but I can tell you, that homecoming is one of the most joyous moments in your life. The last time I left when my daughter was 4 months old, when I spotted her in the crowd standing next to her mother, I cired like a 10 year old girl. Embarrassing, but it really reminds you how important life is.

I think it would be good but for another reason, it would bring people to the streets and help put an end to this bullshit.

Yes the sheep were easily fooled in 2003, of course thats when the war was going to last no longer than five months and paid for with Iraqi oil. Now they see Bush for the lying piece of crap he is and 60% want it over. Thanks for pointing that out.

It is sad how quickly Americans bought into the war in 2003. I guess one Muslim nation is the same as any other in the minds of many. Kind of makes me wonder about our collective intelligence.

What I find most disturbing is how the trumped up charges led to a preemptive war. Iraq was contained. Saddam was not doing anything at that time. Let the UN inspectors continue to look.

Agreed, and it is Deja` Vue all over again, only with Iran.
