I changed my mind on Hillary

As a conservative I though I would want Hillary to win because I though she would be the easiest of the candidates on the left to beat. I think she still is easily beat but now I have to change my thinking. Here is why. it is the black voters. I have been thinking about it and at first i thought; The black voter is voting for Obama at over 90% nation wide and that they would be plenty pissed off if Obama loses in the end to Hillary by super delegate vote. But then I thought further. The black vote has always gone Democrat. If Obama loses he will give a gracious speech and swing his voters to Hillary. Hillary would likewise pick Obama as VP. He would take it I think. Black voters would still vote vast majority Democrat. So a Hillary victory in the primary is worse for Republicans. Were as if Obama wins there is the continuation of the Rezko trial and the lingering problems with the Rev. Wright. So I have changed my wishes. I am now pulling for Obama to win the nomination.

    Go Obama go!!!

I think if there is an Obama democratic candidate, that McCain will make in roads into the Hispanic vote. I think McCain will also make inroads into the moderate white democratic vote as well. I am now pulling for Obama big time.

Hillary has won all of the big Democratic strong holds. The Democrats need to win them in a general election. Clearly Obama did not resonate in those democratic big population centers. he resonated in many states like Iowa and such. Many of the states he did well on are Republican strong holds and he will not win those states anyway. Given all the crazy Rev. Wright stuff lately, Obama will likely not resonate in those areas in the future anyway.

I posted this in the other thread, too. This is my take on the whole situation.

Democrats are going to vote for the DNC nominee no matter what. It's the independents that need to be swayed, and Hillary has the most negatives as far as image is concerned

The difference in positions between McCain and the Democratic Party are nominal at best (the war is the biggie). People who aren't voting with Iraq as a main issue are going to vote for the one who is more likable and charismatic. Between McCain and Obama, that's Obama. Between McCain and Hillary, that's McCain.

The attempt by Republicans to garner Hillary as the nominee is based on personality politics, not racial or minority politics.

Well i hate to have to break it to you but Hillary is the first viable woman candidate and Obama is the first viable black candidate. I would love to vote for a woman Conservative or a black Conservative. But there are plenty of people out there that will not vote for a woman because she is a woman and a black man because he is black. I think it is horrible. But it is also true. Obama's involvment with this Rev. Wright is not going to help that one bit.

"Pastor of disaster" is what Kinky Friedman calls Wright & it looks like that's what Wright has caused Obama. "Clinton is Joe McCarthy", Gen McPeak
Hillary now has her "new & improved bailout for folks losing their home". She's proposed a 30 billion $$ bailout. Why? She screams the economy is bad, we're borrowing $$, then she wants to spend more? "Richardson is Judas". James Carville
John Mccain, in the meantime is out in Ca fundraising & not having to defend anything.
As for his stance on the war, at least he's been consistant, Obama & Hillary have changed their stance on the war a few times.
The dems had better get their act together or they can forget it, if it isn't already too late.

Consider it broke. I didn't deny the existence of racial and minority politics in the election. People who are that bigoted are going to vote that way no matter what either party does. They aren't the drive behind this Rush/Chaos-type defection. The entire premise that this strategy is based on is that Hillary is less likable, and therefore more easily beat.

I have to grant you your do about hillary's lack of likeability, but There is a part of Hillary's demographic that if Hillary is not the nominee will not swing to Obama. Where as I think pretty much all of Obama's will swing to Hillary if she gets the nomination.
