The Mystery of Global Warming's Missing Heat : NPR

I know there are some that won't debate "Man made" Global Warming, because they can't. But When NPR reports a story like this, it makes me wonder if the tide is about to turn against the Eco-warriors and Algore groupies.

You're right- Whether somebody is for or against somebody, or regardless if that person is learning more about environmental issues and global events, if a credible new source formulates an opinion on a subjective topic, then everyone should inevitably side with that source. The argument has ceased, there is no reason to continue contemplating or theorizing, case closed.

I'm glad I don't have to waste anymore time thinking.

And give up on the idea of global taxes, not going to happen. They will continue to push caps and taxes facts be damned.

I spent 6 months on the subject mostly listening to scientists debate the subject. The one thing they agree on is that "natural variability" is the most powerful thing shaping the weather.....

I don't see where this refutes what the supporters of manmade global warming are claiming. It doesn't confirm it but it doesn't refute it.
We've had a colder winter this year than we've had since 2001. But that's weather, there are geniuse's here that don't know the difference between climate and weather. Oceans are huge environments. I would imagine that once they start warming the problem causing the change would be in the advanced stages. Kinda like a cancer thats spread. I've listed this link before but there are a couple of studies that have documented lake warming in Lake Superior. It ain't an ocean but it ain't chump change either. On the other hand I can't find any information of Lake Baikal in Russia and weather its warming or not. For those who don't know Lake Baikal in volume is quite a bit bigger than lake Superior. Lake Superior is bigger in surface area only and in that regard Superior is shrinking. Is that weather (we've have 5 very warm dry summers) or climate? I don't know. Evaporation in the summer quite conceiveably could take a toll. Anyway this article doesn't really say anything and certainly doesn't imply what the title of this thread does.

Thanks fer the link, 2Lane. I try to be interested in what they've discovered in these studies.

Natural variability is all fine and dandy, but it seems like lately (based on our miserable climate in the midwest), there tends to be longer dry spell, and then we're suddenly smashed by an extreme weather change to compensate for the length of that sustaining warmth. And yes, our climate alone doesn't indicate the entire scope of temperature trends...It's kinda like the weather is represented by an oscillating wave, and the balance is always there, it's just that the wave is becoming faster and faster, and more and more unstable.

After a rough night of work, my analogies are all over the place. It felt like a good night for BSing, though...I don't wish to accept nor refute global warming, just understand more of what is going on. It just seemed silly to mention AlGore groupies and to suggest that they are waning....He has a lot to do with peaking interests in environmental studies, but beyond that, I could care less about him. Well...scratch that, I think things would be a lot better with him as president than Chimp-man. But that's another story...a happy hypothetical story at that.....OK, the end.

The point I found most interesting is that the sea level continues to rise even though it appears that the temperature of the ocean may not have increased. We have two seemingly contradictory pieces of data.

Something is making the sea level rise. BBC NEWS | Special Reports | Glaciers suffer record shrinkage The link here is to a BBC article about how fast the glaciers are melting--could cause the ocean level to rise, but if it's not getting warmer, then why are the glaciers melting so much faster than previously? Defective water?

What we end up with are just more questions, no conclusions, and certainly nothing with which either side of this debate can use to gain leverage.

    Re: NPR questions Global Warming

I was in the company of a number of highly educated folks last weekend, so I asked them my CO2 question...

What % of the atmosphere is man made CO2? I got the usual answers: 8%, 12%, 3%. The fact that people don't have the faintest idea shows you what a con job this has been..... Nothing but marketing and fear.

Man made CO2 is something like .0016%. Greenhouse gases are around 1% of the atmosphere. C02 is a minor greenhouse gas (4% of the total). Man made C02 is only 4% of all the Co2.

Now that doesn't prove that man made Co2 isn't influential, but it shows that the discussion is not about Science and never has been.

Global warming started as another in a long line of fear campaigns designed to siphon money from stupid left-wing loons. Unfortunately it is now a weapon being used against us all in the rush to globalization, global taxation, and world government.
