McCain says al Qaeda might try to tip US election

McCain says al Qaeda might try to tip US election | Reuters
Republican presidential candidate John McCain said on Friday he fears that anti-American extremists might attempt spectacular attacks in Iraq to try to tilt the U.S. election against him.

McCain, at a town hall meeting in this Philadelphia suburb, was asked if he had concerns that al Qaeda or other groups in Iraq might intensify their operations to try to increase casualties in the autumn and influence the November election.

"Yes, I worry about it," McCain said. "And I know they pay attention because of the intercepts we have of their communications ... The hardest thing in warfare is to counter someone or a group of individuals who are willing to take their own lives in order to take others."

He said such groups could still mount strong attacks.

"We still have the most lethal explosive devices coming across the border from Iran into Iraq. We still have suicide bombers landing at the airport in Damascus and coming into Iraq as we speak. So I would not be surprised if they make an attempt. I believe we can counter most of it as we are countering them," he said.
More garden variety fearmongering? Or a convenient excuse as to why the Iraq debacle will continue to worsen and why McCain will lose the election in November?

The warmonger managed to sneak in jabs at Iran and Syria too.

Sadly, McCain and al-Qaeda are two sides of the same fanatical warmongering coin.

You nailed that one. McCain pleasures himself constantly over the thought of war.

Wow. I've been gone for 10 days, and sadly I see nothing but the same McCain is bad, Obama is bad posts from you Defensor. Surely there is something else happening in the world.

I don't agree at all. More violence helps McCain's dumb ass bid for office. It's actually what I predicted would happen all along.

Now that the media ignores Iraq, Idiot Americans believe all is well. The closer we get to the elections, the more the media will bring the war back to the forefront. We will then see all the violence again, and start pooping ourselves that the rock throwers will "Follow us home".

    It's all fake.

Again, violence in Iraq helps our Super Friends Party, the GOP..!
