Thread: Wright uses the "N" word

So I am tired of something. I listened to this speech by Wright repeatedly today on the radio. In his speech he uses the "N" word. But each time I heard it on the radio the word is bleeped out. Is this word a swear word? If it is conseidered a swear word then why is it that a preacher is using it in a sermon? This is a church with children in the pews!! Or is this word ok to use? Which is it?

Oh I hear it comming. Blacks can use it but whites not.

The word is offensive and I'm sure someone probably mentioned it to him.

You are exactly correct, blacks can use it but every single non black in the whole world should not use it, and if you are a non black and you want to use it, I recommend you do not given the inflammitory nature of the word.

You wouldn't use that word would you JOM? Of course not. Just let it go, and let blacks say it if they want. Simple, and if everybody thought the same we'd be peacefull. I know you want peace as much as I do.

A sermon is written many days in advance. It was conceived and rehearsed. It was planned by him and said in front of the whole congregation women and children. You can hear that the crowd loved it. They cheered for more. I think it is very sad.

SUch is the mentality of some people. I would have to hear the speech to get a better understanding of the context that he used it in. But still, he could have chosen a better word. Perhaps he thought that it was appropiate in order to get across a meaning that the congregation could relate to. Like I said, I'd have to hear it.

Yea, I know, but what ya gonna do? Try to make black people stop saying it? Or make it okay for everyone to say it? Everyone saying it doesn't seem very nice nor productive in any way.

You're right, it's a double standard, and every double standard is by nature hypocracy. I choose to not spend too much time thinking about the word because I'm famous for slipping, like in Church, or in front of Grannys and small kids.

It must be killing you to not be able to use the word publicly without consequences. Don't not use it on my account, you know what I think of you already.

I personally find the word funny. Wouldn't say it to a black person, especially someone who is gangster, actually I say it to my black friends when they piss me off as like a joke. This argument has become stupid already. If you don't want to say it don't, but don't tell anyone not to say it because you don't have that right.
