Asking this because I don't know. How do the proposed healthcare bills deal with illegals. Are they able or are they required to buy? Are they subject to the fines of not having insurance. Or is it business as usual as in "emergency room " care. Have watched many diuscussions on TV and the illegal issue never comes up. That issue alone is a great part of our healthcare debate. An ounce of pevention at the border saves tons. California is a prime example of a bankrupt state due in part to illegals. If that issue isn't dealt with then the healthcare bill is meaningless.

Illegal immigrants would obviously not be required to buy insurance, since they are undocumented. They are also ineligible for the subsidies offered to offset insurance costs. While the cost of treating illegal immigrants in hospitals is not negligible, there are far, far more important (and costly) issues to consider than the costs of emergency room treatment. Just because the reform doesn't address every problem doesn't mean it won't address a large number of problems.

    Gibberish.

The illegals will become legal, there is a huge push on for amnisty....err comprehensive immigration reform. Then they will be forced into buying insurance.

Good, if they are forced into paying for their own healthcare then they won't be sponging off of me.

Oh don't worry, you will be forced as well, and refusal means jail time and massive fines.

I'm not so sure of that I know a number of them that have jobs and have SS taken out yet they don't even have a SS number. I'm not sure how the hell that works or where that money that is collected in their name goes but they sure as hell don't want to ask any questions. They are more than happy to allow that 7+% to be taken as long as someone is not going to come drag them off and ship em back to Guatemala!

I thought you just said "they will be forced into buying insurance"? If they are going to be buying their own insurance then why am I going to pay for it? Or are you once again saying that they won't be paying for it and your original statement was bullshit?

Well I have always carried ins so I won't be forced to do anything that I have not always done. Sounds good that they will begin making others carry it or go to jail, I'm sick of paying for them.

    What?

I will type real slow for you. Both you and they....that means all of us...will be forced into buying insurance. If you or they...again thats everyone...you and/or they refuse then your or they will go to prison for refusing the furors orders.

    Does that compute?

With perhaps as many as 20 million illegals out there, the health bills can't ignore this issue. So unless amnesty is forced on us, what does congress / Obama plan to do. Will hospitals still be under mandates of "can't refuse treatment". If illegals will have to buy insurance but can't afford it, will they be treated the same as Americans that can't afford it?

This is going to get really messy.
