This thread is in response to a post by Bourne in the conspiracy theories section. Here it is:
In essence, what he's saying here is that the NWO does not really exist - however, it is used as a scapegoat by many people who do not necessarily accept status quo politics.
Yes, it exists primarily in the minds of those people. However, Bourne, I'll maintain this:
- The State of Nature, that mythical state of being where each individual had pure autonomy, and where 95% of our founding political theory was based on; that too is only 'imagined', and was never real.
- The United Nations is an imagined entity; that there is somehow a trans-national organization that is above the nation state, although this organization in itself has no power. Is the UN real? Oh sure there are some people who work for this organization that calls itself the united nations, and it has some office buildings in this place called New York, Geneva, and wherever else, and it does some coordination between capitals - but that doesn't make it 'real', that just makes it an organization.
- Is America real? There are people who consider themselves American, but in truth people are nothing more than people. There is a place on a map that is called America, but if you cross the border into Canada, the dirt there is the same dirt that is here.
Yet somehow it is different - people imagine that America exists, people imagine that at one point in time we were in a State of Nature, people imagine that the United Nations exists, but it cannot definitively be shown that these things are real, and not just a creation in our minds. Yes, there is an organizational backing that is found behind the United Nations or America, but this does not mean that America is real - this just means that in this certain space in our world, throughout this place that people consider America, one group of people have power and influence over certain actions of other people.
So, is the New World Order, that all encompassing entity that threatens to destroy the power of the people and put humanity under a single system of control, is that real? It, as a concept, is as real as America is; America does not exist unless we think it exists - there are things that symbolize America, there are things that serve this concept known as America, but America is a concept, it is an idea, and therefore cannot rationally be shown to exist; it must be accepted based on faith. Likewise, the New World Order - there are things that symbolize the New World Order, that symbolize its realization, that symbolize the threat it poses to a certain way of life, and to be honest there are even some institutions that work to promote such a New World Order, or at least in the past have said that they would. Bush #41 called for a NWO, Kofi Annan and practically every other United Nations Secretary General have said that this was the UN's goal; one could find limitless examples that symbolize the progression towards this all encompassing bad state.
So, Mr. Bourne, yes the NWO exists only in the minds of a certain group of people; however, so does every other idea in the world that cannot be proven rationally.
