Thread: Ron Paul Cosponsors Bill to End Shameful Practice - Combat Veterans Debt Elimination

Washington, DC -- Congressman Ron Paul has signed on as a cosponsor of legislation that would prohibit the Secretary of Veterans Affairs from collecting certain debts owed to the United States by members of the Armed Forces and veterans who die as a result of an injury incurred or aggravated on active duty in a combat zone.

So if your son or daughter die fighting bush's war and they owe money to the VA for school or what ever, your stuck with the bill because you did not serve your full enlistment term?

That Sucks.

Why does the debt pass on to the parents? Don't you legally separate when you turn 18?

Maybe this is used to take from the life insurance policy?

I don't know, maybe the wife has to pay it. I don't understand how after all this time this shit continues. I thought there was a certain senator who claimed he supported the troops and the vets. I guess that was for the a cool looking bumper sticker.

A wise move on the part of Paul. With a primary coming up in which he is seriously trailing "Dr. Doolittle" has got to wake up and try to create the impression that he's done something, indeed anything, while in office.

Personally, I think that it's too little, too late. Paul is finished as a politician.

And why would he? After all, we're talking about a piece of legislation which adresses $56,000.00 which the VA is not even actively interested in trying to recover. But I digress. Your post is about the stellar legislative career of Paul, not McCain. Let's not get sidetracked.

Because if McCain was interested more in the lives of the troops than in his banking buddies, he'd have authored legislation adding this form of debt relief to the standard GI life insurance package.

Because he's one of the Keating Five, we're all aware of where McCain's interests lie.
