Editor’s Note: When Americans wonder how the arrogant and corrupt Bush family managed to seize so much power for so long, part of the answer is that the electorate lost control of its history during the long Cold War and into a new era of secrecy called "the war on terror."

Cold War secrecy gave the rich and powerful extraordinary abilities to hide information from the American people, including the unsavory history of the Bush family, as journalist/historian Morgan Strong observes in this guest essay:

To fully understand the present manifestation of the Bush family and its excesses, one must consider its history over several generations, a difficult and painful undertaking since it reveals so much about the self-destructive apathy of the American people.

In my personal opinion, this article is a must-read. However, some here may not want to remove themselves from their complacancy and apathy to do so and may simply think it a waste of time and bandwidth.

Don't bother reading it people.

I just read it all.

It is just more rehashed claims that Prescott Bush (grandfather of the president) made money dealing with the Nazis.

What it fails to do is point out that these dealings take place BEFORE World War II. And before Nazi Germany was an enemy of the United States.

Indeed, this occurred when a substantial number of Americans thought the Nazis were okay folks and BEFORE most significant Nazi atrocities.

In other words, it is a bullshit article. Pardon my language

No thats incorrect, and it is a fact that Prescott Bush got drummed out of the senate because of his illegal activities whilst dealing with the devil....err Hitler. Hell Rove's family, Arnold's, and a few other families of governmental influence came from the same type of background.

Look up Prescott Bush on Wikipedia and you will see the bulk of these allegations are unfounded

Roves last name was Rover, his grandfather was a Governor in Austria for Hitler.

Arnold's father I believe was a Waffen SS head.

Look up Hariman(spelling?) brothers an find all you want about Prescott.
