Here is a relevant article with some very good links.

Seems like all the pieces are in place, maybe the collapse of the economy is all that will be needed for full blown martial law.
You all think there's enough of you guys so I could get rich selling Chicken Little Umbrellas?

Got any evidence from someone who isn't a little off his rocker? This Hamburg guy is weird. I'm going to start calling all these people who seem to be friends members of the Chi Lambda fraternity. Because it is like they are in their own little fraternity world. (CL as in Chicken Little fraternity-Alex Jones acting President.)

I did put some other links on here. I just finished listening to Hamburg and I don't know, he sounded pretty convincing to me.

Yeah, the Democrats are going to sit around with their thumbs up their butts while a Republican president proclaims himself fuhrer.

    Can't see that happening.

What I can see is that the people worried about fictional scenarios with the Bush's keeping power now are pretty much the same group of lunatics fretting about the Clinton's keeping power after the 2000 election.

    Look up "Millerites" on Google.

I took your post to heart, looked up Millerites, and to some degree I accept your reasoning. I hope that your right but there seems to be to damn much planning and infrastructure for nothing. Any way time will tell, and I live in the West, lots of open.

I'm not saying that it's impossible for some politicians to do that. They are, after all, passing and getting to keep laws that push the extra-constitutional powers of the government all the time.

They're not at the stage yet where any one party could seize control and expect to hold it....

...and gain more thereby than they can by imitating the other party and sniping verbally at the other, as they do today.

I reread the wiki on the Millerites, sounds a bit like Joseph Smith and Alex Jones rolled into one.

[quote=ThatGuy;510234]Man, you guys would have really had a hard time holding it together if you lived though the Civil War years. But hey, we're still here.
I understand the fear you might have of the possibility of a Administration blatantly abusing a Patriot Act toward Americans but at the same I am completely baffled by total lack of aknowledging what Islamic fundementalists have done to us so far and what they want to do in the future.

Maybe it is your own lack of knowledge that should be questioned. The Iraq war has been a huge setback in our "war on terror". AQ has grown stronger, our forces are spread thin. This war has depleted our strength. Bush walked into a trap, and AQ will/is reaping the benefits. They are gaining strength, National Intelligence Agency reports have confirmed that AQ is stronger than they were. How anyone can argue that the war has benefited America, or done anything to stop the war on terror is beyond me.

I suggest that a American society that is pummled freely by foriegn terror is a defeated nation and should be ruled by the parties responsible.

I have no doubt the Patriot act has stopped Terror attacks. How many and how close were they to completing their mission. I couldn't say. Those who do know, aren't going to say, but people like y'all will continue to call BS on everything. So what's the point

The Patriot act was written before the 9/11 attacks. If this bill was really a response to the 9/11 attacks then
how could any of the bills of the Patriot Act be registered with the Library of Congress BEFORE September 11th?

Because 'Bill H.R.3162' of the Patriot Act, according to the Library of congress, was:

'Begun and held at the City of Washington on Wednesday, the third day of January, two thousand and one'.
Maybe a better question to ask would be, why this bill was drafted 8 months before the attacks?

Rule by fear or rule by... 02-22-2008 05:16 PM davisjr1990 you like big-government, don't you?
No. I'm just not stupid enough to fall for the quadrennial panic over getting rid of the lame duck president.

Did you ever think maybe you need professional psychological help for your paranoia?
