    Obama's education plan

Once again, in his victory speech tonight, he said that he will make college affordable to everyone. That everyone who wants to go to college will get a $4000 grant every year they want to go.

He exposes his economic ignorance. You don't make things affordable by taking money from Peter and giving it to Paul, you do manage to get Pauls vote though. If Obama gives everyone who wants it $4000 to pay to a college all it will do is make the cost of college go up $4000. If Obama thought it important for everyone to have a new car every three years so he decided to make that more affordable by giving everyone $4000 every three years to buy a new car, what would happen to the price of new cars? They'd go up $4000.

If he wants to get the cost of college down and more affordable then he should promise to launch a full scale federal investigation, by the Justice department, not a partisan congress being paid off by education special interest, as to why the cost of college continues to sky rocket year after year when it's cost is not tied to a resource that gets scarce, is not tied a dramatic increase in technology cost to educate people, technology cost have come down in fact. They supply rooms to teach in and pay people to teach, studies have to buy their own materials and even pay extra for labs and such.

He want to it, he's in their back pockets.

Then where is he going to get the money? How does he pay for it?

Then here is an example of what is going on in public education and the use of government grants and the spending of taxpayer money.

Here as some articles that will floor you

Professors apply for Pell grants to attend their own classes. Coaches signing up people for grants and scholarships, people who never show up to practice or play they just pocket the money. Parents who make a tax deductible donation to the college but have it reserved for their own child. Wives on payrolls who never work a single day. Children getting six figure "consulting fees" and never even setting foot on the campus or doing any consulting.

The education system has become a cash cow for government employees. At one college they used the federal funds they received to create a "culinary school" which they used, including purchasing of the food, for their own personal parties and functions. If you had niece getting married just place your order with the culinary school and they supplied the food, cooked it and delivered it free of charge. They actually thought they were entitled to it.

The last thing we need in education is more money poured down that bottomless pit.

He is pandering to the uneducated voter. It is probably pretty effective too. It sounds good, so we should vote for him. I think they should have to give more specifics when they start spouting out crap like this. How does he think it will get paid for? People really need to smarten up a bit before voting.

Obama needs an education plan. Most of his supporters can barely read or write.

Actually, his plan is a tax credit.

Create the American Opportunity Tax Credit: Obama will make college affordable for all Americans by creating a new American Opportunity Tax Credit. This universal and fully refundable credit will ensure that the first $4,000 of a college education is completely free for most Americans, and will cover two-thirds the cost of tuition at the average public college or university and make community college tuition completely free for most students. Obama will also ensure that the tax credit is available to families at the time of enrollment by using prior year's tax data to deliver the credit when tuition is due.

$4000 won't cover a semester of in state tuition at a 4 year university.

Any idea where he plans to reduce spending to recoup this tax money? Keep in mind that we are already spending over 100 billion a year in Iraq that we would have to recoup first and on top of whatever this credit amount would come to. Seems like an awful lot of cuts.

However, is a tax credit to offset part of the cost of higher education a worthwhile venture or no? Seems to me that the government would easily make there money back over the career of the higher educated person through their higher salaries. Additionally, making education more affordable would lead to more higher skilled workers rather than relying on foreign workers coming to America to take the jobs that there are no Americans for. How many foreign engineers and IT people do we have currently?

Cute. Did you have something to actually add to the conversation, or are you simply here to break my balls? I have never stated that I am a typist, and off stated that I can not type. I do rely on auto correct. Unfortunately, auto correct does not always read my mind.

Tax credit to who? The 18 year old who hasn't paid into the system yet?
