In response to Hutch;
"The level which our government’s role in day to day life...is intolerable."
Yah until you need government services to help you. See its easy to complain about it when you take it for granted as a given and then aren't using it at the moment. Only someone who takes his government for granted and lives a privileged or sheltered life would say the above. Good for you in your neighbourhood you don't need no stinkin policeman. You have gates and private security guards to keep the poo people out.
"Since when is it the governments job to declare lifestyles, which are utterly harmless, such as homosexuality illegal?"
Well go speak to Ron Paul about it. He has made it clear he feels homo-sexuality is evil. The last time I looked neither John McCain or Obama were suggesting its illegal and since Hilary is gay you should vote for her if you want to be assured.
"Now, granted the world has changed drastically since the formation of free markets."
Time to go back to school and understand how the international monetary fund works. Free markets? You have to be joking.
"We SHOULD have labor laws protecting the exploitation of laborers, we SHOULD prevent monopolies/oligarchies from forming, and we SHOULD have a consumer protection board that makes sure companies are not serving us poison."
Say now didn't you start by whining that government is too big and too intrusive. Now you sound like you want government intervention and control. Are we confused?
" Take it upon yourself to help those in need in your community, and do not take from everyone’s pocket at once to help those who apparently cannot help themselves."
Now you sound like a preacher. Do you think Ron Paul supporters or libertarians really give a f..ck about charity or anyone else?
"I am not saying screw the poor, but it is not the job of the government to help them. "
Hey now, you just said screw the poor but deny it? Why? Stop talking out of both sides your mouth. Its not sincere or credible.
"And while we all sit here waiting for the government to fix our economic problems, our social problems, and our
education problems…"
Yes didn't you say you want the government intervening with labour laws? Stand up. Sit down. Stand up. Sit down. Make up your mind son.
"we do not stop to realize the we all also complain on how incompetent the government is. "
The pot calling the kettle caucasian? Could have sworn you were complaining about how incompetent the government was and that is the point of your post.
"Take this metaphor…"
Sounds like an old Henny Youngman routine.
"Katrina victims were trapped in places like the Superdome for several days. And while the government should indeed have had a faster reaction time…how many cameras were on that dome broadcasting how shitty the government is to the whole world?"
Gee is this the same guy who just said the poor should look after themselves. Oy. Sit. Stand. Sit. Stand. He sounds like my wife making me move the sofa.
" Should the government be involved in the education system…I believe so."
Me too. For heaven's sake they need to teach you to be consistent with your reasoning.
" But a lot of the problems we are having with the education process can be solved by simply have encouraging families and communities."
Or getting you to be consistent.
" It takes both a parent and a village to raise a child…"
Yah yah. George Bush Sr. 's script writers came up with that one. Actually belongs to Phil Donahue.
Good night America and please find something else to do with those guns.
