    Separation of Church and State

Separation of Church and State is Strange

Is it strange that we have "In God We Trust" on our coins, a taxpayer funded Chaplain in the Senate, Biblical Quotations on the Supreme Court building, to name a few, and yet the display of the "Ten Commandments" is a violation of the separation of church and state?

Question Re: Separation of Church and State

When you mention the display of the Ten Commandments, in what context are you referring to this display?

the seperation of church and state does not exist. It is not a law that can be violated. It is a twist of the "Establishment of Religion" clause. In reality the display of the ten commandments is worthy of display.

That's exactly right. The federal gov't can not establish a religion, & that's as far as it is supposed to go.

Not too different from using the 4th Amendment to defend abortion. Used to think the constitution was rather clear.

A right to 'bear arms'? Well, that means you can have guns that your government says you can have....but only if you register, qualify, have a license, don't smoke and vote democrat.

Damn vague ass consitution, why can't it just say what it means, like our modern tax code!

.....Or prohibit the free excersize thereof, don't forget that Migi

Which means it says nothing about NOT having, the ten comandments in a city hall lobby, or prayer in school, and about anything that isn't against the law already like stoning witches and adulterers

Could you clarify this post GW? I can't understand what your saying.

Stoning witches was technicaly illegal when Salem went down, murder is murder and witchcraft is not a capital offense in any state.

Re: Separation of Church and State

The ten commandments is from one religion.

    God is in many religions.

talking of God is not supporting only one religion so its not establishing one religion as the State religion.

I would perfer no religion in our government because some Americans dont believe in any God like me.

But I do realize many Americans do and at least its not sanctioning ONE religion.
