Thread: I'm gonna send Obama some money

I'm gonna send Obama some money.

And, I don't do that kinda thing. This is the first election ever, in my 48 years on this planet, that I've ever sent money to a political candidate.

But, I sent Ron Paul's campaign some money earlier this election, not 'cause I wanted the guy to become President necessarily, but because I wanted his voice to be heard, and I hoped my 200 bucks could help in that regard.

But this money here, for Obama, this is 'cause I want the guy to become President. And, I kinda know how politics works these days, right? "Money talks". So, I wanna help the guy any way i can, and the two ways I know how to do that, are to vote, and to send money.

And, the third thing i've done, is written a letter to go along with the check, explaining "why" I'm sending money, and "what" I'm hopin' he'll do with it, and offering up my help and assistance in "any way I can", both in terms of his campaign, and in terms of help fhat I can bring to the table on behalf of We the People, should he become President.

And, the reason I'm sayin' all this, is 'cause I'm a registered Republican. I've never been anything but a Republican. I've never been a registered Dem, ever, not even for one micro-second. But now, it seems to me, these little "problems" we're having these days, these deeply transcend partisan politics. In fact, partisan politics, is just gonna get in the way, of solving them.

So, I'm gonna do something I've never done in my whole entire life, which is, reach [U}way[/U] across to the opposite side of the political aisle, and support someone who's got some pretty strong differences on some of the "issues-du-jour", and yet, when I look at all the candidates remaining in the field, he's the only one who I believe and perceive, could get the job done with any kinda integrity and any kinda real smarts.

So, I just wanted to share that with y'all. Is anyone else feeling the same way these days? Seein' the same thing?

Good for you. I have made a donation this year, not that it did any good, but made me feel good.

You can count on that, Industry has bought and paid for all the politicians.

The major problem with our country is the way in which our elections are held. They are corrupt because we do not have a cap on the amount a politician can spend on getting elected. It costs so much to run for office that a politician must sell his self and all of his ethics in order to raise the money to run for office.

What does Minne Pearle and all of the politicians running for office, whether Republican or Democrat have in common -- -- "they all have price tags hanging from their hats.".

What is it that all politicians doesn't have in common with Minnie Pearle -- -- "Minnie Pearle had high moral standards and unquestionable ethics."

For 50 years of my life I have been active in the Republican party, both in fund raising and going door to door campaigning.

I am no longer a Republican because the Republican Party has lost all of its credibility as far as I am concerned. I am now looking at the various independent parties.

I honestly believe that as long as we have the low mentality as to think the only options we have is Republican and Democrat -- this country is doomed!

In the last 10 years we have come from one of the richest nations on this earth, to one of the poorest ones. We are now so far in debt it will take 20 generations to even bring it to a point of manageability. That is -- if you can get some candidates with ethics -- not likely.

Even so, this country would need to be relegated to third world status to break the two party system.

So, how the heck is this 3rd party going to start? I believe there is a lot more to it than just saying, "Hey, I'm new and different. Vote for me."

There are many third parties, the dems & repubs keep a lid on them.
