    Big brother ain't eating here!

Talk about a nanny govt - and I thought Mississippi was a conservative place?! Coming to a resturant near you? Could this possibly be constitutional?!opcorn:

State: Big Dietitian is watching you

A bill recently introduced in Mississippi's state legislature would bar restaurants from serving people determined to be obese.

House Bill 282 aims to require dining establishments with seating capacity of five or more to follow guidelines set by the state's health department to determine a prospective customer's obesity, turning away those considered too fat to serve.

A copy of the bill follows in two images below.

    Great post! Thanks for that.

Yes - well, you're going to be seeing a lot more of this. yes?

Consider: "universal healthcare", yes? What's the first thing that's gonna happen there?

Medical triage! Right? Same thing that's going on in Oregon. Exact same thing.

So, this "logic", that you're bringing to our attention here, is the same kind of "logic", that people are using to impose smoking bans "outdoors on public grounds", in some cities.

They're not using the argument of "second hand smoke" or anything - what they're doing, is very clever, very clever indeed.

What they're saying, is that the financial cost of treating lung cancer, is a burden to society, and therefore falls under the umbrella of the Common Welfare of the People of the United States!

And so far, the Supreme Court seems to have accepted that argument. I "suspect", that this may change under the newly conservative Court. It's already showing signs of true conservatism (Printz v United States bring the low hanging fruit there).

See, I'm "pretty sure", if I'm not mistaken, that this is the same argument, that HIllary will use for her "universal healthcare", in relation to its Constitutionalitiy. 'Cause I mean, Ron Paul is 100% correct - as things stand today, that thing is entirely un-Constiutional, because, it is coercive. It is "mandatory". And therefore, it requires a legislative Power to be specifically enumerated in Article I Section 8 of the United States Constitution. And I mean, these elected weasels of ours, have been waving their hands over that particular piece for a long, long time.

So, this could be very interesting, in terms of legal development.

And - think about this - this concept, will also impact issues like Roe v Wade. Think about it. Yep. Sad but true.

That was the prediction back when smoking was first being outlawed - once smoking is under control, weight will be the next civil rights issue. But refusing to serve anyone over a certain weight limit a meal in any resterant in the state - criminalizing fat feeders - that is freakin bizarre! Sadly, and scarily - this ain't CA leftists. The conservative wing is now the nanny govt wing!

Just wait until we have universal healthcare. They will have to take a blood sample from you before serving you.

Nah, we will all carry our dietician encoded permission to eat implanted chips. This way, the cooks will know what to feed us. Think of it - no menu - just take it or leave it.

I can tell, we're gonna get along just peachy. :waving:

Yeah, what's up with that? The Reps and Dems are trading places!

The Reps are spending us blind, and the Dems are doing PayGo.

The Dems haven't been able to "tax" anything lately, so they just "spend" like the Reps do. But with the Reps, instead of tax-and-spend, it's borrow-and-spend, but the "spend" part, is still in there.

And what are they "spending" on? Welfare! Welfare, and war.

Welfare in all its forms - Medicare Part D, right? Decided behind closed doors, in the dead of night, with no participation and no oversight from the opposing side of the aisle (or even, for that matter, from the same side of the aisle - it was mostly pharm execs and insurance execs, from what I understand - [U]one[/U} guy from the Kaiser Family Foundation, right?)

More welfare - the Energy Policy of the United States, right? Decided behind closed doors, in the dead of night, with no participation and no oversight from anyone. Oil execs mostly. That one, resulted in a grand total pf 96 billion dollars in subsidies and loan guarantees to big oil. And guess what? They told us, that it would help the economy and create jobs and keep the price of gas at the pump "low", yes? Did any of it materialize? None of it!!! Exxon Corporation, which just had record profits, did not create [U]one[/U} new job in 2007! Not one!!! They started new projects, but they didn't create new jobs. In fact, it's even worse than that - they're actually laying people off!!! They just laid off almost a thousand people in the State of New Jersey, and I mean, they even got a bunch of new projects going on up there, right?

So, like, where does that money go? Well, what I know is, Big Oil is actually speculating in oil futures with your money! And, said speculation, is not a hedge! It actually appears as a line item under the "Profits" section of the quarterly reports that are required to be filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission! So, they are definitely, unquestionably, making money, by speculating in oil futures, with your tax dollars!!!

And I mean, the Reps have been giving these people money, and where does it go? Well, let's see, 96 billion, minus 40 billion in profits, leaves.... Mm... and then, there's the additional consideration, that if you took all the money the CEO of Exxon made last year in stock options and bonuses (maybe 6 million-ish, give or take), and divided it by your annual income or mine, you could kinda figure out, how many families, We the People could be lifting out of poverty, with all that money.

And I mean, I am not seeing the price of gas go down at the pump, are you?

So like, why should the taxpayers, you and me, be subsidizing the profits of Exxon investors?

Answer: we shouldn't! Let them subsidize their own darn profits!!!

Do you realize what the debt service is on 96 billion dollars? At 5%, it's roughly 5 billion a year, right?

Well, check this out: for 5 billion a year, you could fund all of the following government agencies: the Executive Office of the President, the Legislative Branch, the State Department, the Department of Commerce, NASA, the National Science Foundation, .... I mean, check this out here - you see all the stuff that falls within that 5 billion dollar bucket, right?

Federal Budget Spending and the National Debt

And that's just debt service - that's just the amount, covered by the interest, on the money that you and me gave to Big Oil.

    Imagine that.

You could fund almost the entire freakin' government with that money!!!
