Is ignorance of the Constitution an excuse?

There's no denying that politicians of every stripe run over the Constitution with a Lawn Boy if they think it will benefit them.

My question is two-fold. Are politicians excused when they claim not to know the Constitution so they can run over our rights?

Are the people excused when politicians run over our rights because the majority of us don't know the Constitution?

Viewpoints on these questions and solutions to the problem welcome.

Just look at this board and how few people understand it. It's no wonder it's so easy for the government to just step over the Constitution with no one noticing.

I believe that every US citizen should have a reasonable understanding of the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence.

You mean you're calling the Constitution LAW? Like it's something that is to be obeyed by both politicians and average Joes?

    Don't be ridiculous.

You know, the OP asked an interesting question and I've offered my opinion. Why do you feel the need to muck up this thread with your insulting and irrational nonsense.

Who are you? Some self-appointed constitutional expert? From the pounding that you've taken at the hands of other posters I seriously doubt that.

Grow up and stop hijacking interesting threads with your crap.
