    On FISA and the Telecoms

    http://video.msn.com/video.aspx?mkt=en-US&brand=msnbc&vid=1548595f-fe61-4768-8d74-a70048d45c3c

Bush values the telecoms more than he cares for protecting America. If the telecoms have not done anything illegal...why do they need immunity?
This is just more evidence of our slide into Fascism.

Re: On FISA and the Telecoms

Yeah, we all know. Bush sucks. :flickoff: him with a gigantic donkey dong!!!

Frankly, my take on that is, that Bushie is such an idiot, that he undoubtedly did all kinds of underhanded stuff in the process of trying to "protect the nation" (or whatever he was actually trying to do) -

BUT, that's all behind us now, yes?

We really need to put this behind us, yes? This whole Bush madness?

And I mean, that doesn't mean "forget about it", that means, "accept it as it is", and "move to fix it and make it right again, to the extent possible".

So really, I don't even care, "much" about the retro-active part.

I care if that's carried forward, into law, but you know, if the President of the United States comes to you and asks you to something in the name of national security, I don't think you're gonna say "no", are you?

So, I mean, you know, I can forgive those junior execs in suits, and even the CEO's, or whoever "complied" with Bushie on this thing - 'tain't that much of a big deal, I mean, "in context" with the rest of the stuff we're gonna have to clean up after Bushie's gone, right?

There's a lot of things we're gonna have to address about these corps. This whole things about restricting the right to sue, is entirely and completely un-Constitutional, and that needs to be addressed. THe idea of government welfare to corporations, has to be addressed. The idea that these corps can send lobbyists scurrying willy-nilly all over Weaselton, and they don't even vote - they have no legal voice whatsoever in American politics! Right? I mean - all this "stuff" - the pharmas are completely raping both the consumers and the government, the insurance companies are weaseling out of all their obligations, even over national emergencies like Katrina (and the government does nothing to help that situation) - you know, on and on and on. It's a real problem, as near as I can tell. And the corps, they always invoke the magic J-word (jobs) or the magic E-word (economy), and the damn politicians'll let 'em do whatever they want.

See what I'm sayin'? I don't like the idea that this occurred, but I consider it to be an abberration, and I'm also left with the thought that, in the event of a genuine national emergency, that possibly might be a power that we would want the President of the United States, to be able to bring to the table, if need be. Just a thought.....
