Ronald Reagan and Ron Paul: A Comparison

Ronald Reagan and Ron Paul: A Comparison

YouTube - Ronald Reagan and Ron Paul: A Comparison

This movie was a collaborative effort between the Rev. X and me. The goal was simple: ALL Republicans profess to crave, no covet! a new Gipper as the Party’s nominee. It should go without saying that said nominee should actually BELIEVE in Reagan’s core beliefs and his guiding principles.

Many people cite the 1964 speech Reagan gave on behalf of Barry Goldwater as his finest, which is why it has come to be know as “The Speech.” In The Speech, we hear Reagan referencing our Founding Fathers, The Constitution and limited self government.

We also hear his warnings about keeping Social Security as is and that young people should be allowed out of the program. Reagan warned of inflating the dollar and the departure from Gold. As he pointed out, our National Debt in 1964 was 1.5 times that of all the debt owed by all the other Nations of the WORLD.

When this speech was filmed, Americans had been newly committed to the Vietnam War and Reagan didn’t approve. He also protested our involvement and expenditures in 108 countries around the globe when we set out to help 19.

Finally, Ronald Reagan thought we had crossed a dangerous threshold when the cumulative tax rate reached 33%. (today it stands at 51-57% depending on income)

Ronald Reagan would get his chance to right many of these transgressions, but not all. His legacy, we should remind ourselves, is rooted in his undying belief in his principles and how he applied that to governing.

The point of this movie is not to sway votes in Presidential Primaries, it is to argue that Congressman Paul and those of us who agree with him, ought to have a seat at the table as our party debates it’s purpose and future which we hope is firmly rooted in the rich, Constitutional advocacy, of our past.

Good stuff, I don't think that anyone is trying to insinuate that Ron Paul is anything but a conservative/Constitutionalist and that he is the most conservative gentleman on the ballot. And it's not a matter of what he stands for, it's a matter of how much attention/draw/support he draws up. And the answer is not enough. I agree with a lot of what Ron Paul speaks of and stands for, however he is never going to be the president of the united states. One of my best friends is a huge Paul guy and we have this argument all the time.

My basic logic is that I am going to vote for the most conservative candidate who will do the least damage to the constitution....."Electable" Which is Mitt Romney. Now in the SC debate Ron Paul was asked about his electability and gave a great response, however the answer remains he will never win a single Primary and will not become a General election canidate.

At the end of the day Mitt Romney will damage the Constitution and America as a whole. He is a slimy flop-flopper who has earned zero respect from me, as he should from any Ron Paul supporter. If the GOP likes to nominate scum like McCain and Romney, they deserve to lose until they change their ways.

One might say that the best strategy a Ron Paul supporter has is to hope that Hillary Clinton is elected President. Then hope that their vision of four years of hell comes true and the Republican Party reacts by getting behind someone so opposite her like a Ron Paul in the next election.

Remember, the Republicans denied Ronald Reagan as their candidate when he was the more conservative choice against a moderate Gerald Ford in 1976... it took four years of Jimmy Carter for the Republicans to finally decide that Ronald Reagan was their man.

That's exactly the scenario I'm thinking will have to happen in order to awaken Republicans from their stupor.

I like Ron Paul, but he is a little extreme in some regard (legalize drugs?)
Defensor, when did Mr. Romney "flip-flop?"

What is so extreme about "legalizing" drugs?

Why is he a flip flopper? Because he changed his mind on some things, like abortion? Ronald Reagan then was a flip flopper too, he was once a democrat.
I don't know what's in Romneys heart anymore than I know what's in Pauls heart, all I can go on is what they're saying, their actions, & then vote for the one that best mirrors my own views. Romeny is certainly not a slimey person, his life, his family, tells a different story.
