Bush promises $2b for climate fight

    Quote:
The United States will commit $US2 billion ($2.25 billion) to promote clean energy technologies and fight climate change, President George W Bush said in his final State of the Union speech today.

Mr Bush said the US was "committed to strengthening our energy security and confronting global climate change" but warned that all countries had to share the burden.

Okay - so, who has not ratified Kyoto yet Mr Bush? Hint hint! We are already doing our bit.

Wonder where this money will go?

Kyoto has already been rejected by the Senate.

It wasn't a very good treaty.

And it will expire soon in any case.

I caught that statement during the State of the Union address, too. As soon as I heard it, it reminded me of the earlier 60-Minutes stories with the renowned climatologist whose reports were modified by Whitehouse lawyers in such a way as to convey there is no proof of global warming. What happened? Did I miss something?

It's not an increase, it's a decrease really. Last years budget was about $4 billion for renewables, compared to about $20 billion for oil alone. So he is actually cutting funding, he is just announcing it so it seems like we are making progress.

Hasn't he paid attention to FFA or JOM or their sources, there is no climate change. Doesn't he realize that.

He claimed it was a new fund, Luigi.

Was he telling a lie or have you got the funds confused with existing programs?

"Let us create a new international clean technology fund, which will help developing nations like India and China make greater use of clean energy sources," he said.
The money will be committed to a new international fund over the next three years.

Probably will go to population control efforts, and re designing government to fit the UN Agenda 21 models.

    Nowhere.

    It's lip service, nothing more.

In his speech Bush bragged about the success of his faith based initiatives. It never happened.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/29/op...ml?ref=opinion

His tax cuts were supposed to help the economy. They didn't, yet he wants them to be permanent.

He claims AQ is on the run, yet they are scheduling question and answer times live on the web.

He claimed his surge has been a success. Americans killed in Iraq rose sharply in January.

He very laughably talked about balancing the budget that he after he nearly doubled our deficit.

    The guy's a joke.
