Thread: the electoral college

While the electoral college should be re-worked it should not be done away with. As it stands one needs only the thirteen most populous states to win the presidency, while winning only those states and no others is virtually impossible at the moment it could happen. That number could easily be reduced in the future if population trends continue in the largest states. The largest states need less weight in the process to even things back out.

I still think this is much ado about nothing. If the election is close enough to have a disparity between the popular vote and the electoral vote then it is also well within the error rate of the election. We can spend lots of money and go through lots of efforts to make the election more valid and it will still be argued and debated every time it is close.

How about these changes for you?

Proof of citizenship at the voting booth. It is estimated that some 1.5 million illegal votes were cast in 2000 by people who are not American citizens. The use of only a driver's license to verify ID allows illegals to vote since the Motor-Voter Bill was pushed through by Ted Kennedy. It is estimated at about 80% of the votes by illegals go to the Democrats in any given election.

Actively prevent voting by felons. The problem in Florida with many felons voting also skews the numbers. Once again illegal votes by felons go heavily Democratic.

Better vetting of absentee ballots. It has been shown that absentee ballots are often a source of attempted vote fraud.

Prevent judges from arbitrarily keeping voting booths open past their closing times. This happened in Missouri in 2000 but only in some urban areas that vote heavily Democratic.

So let's clean up all the BS first before we worry about the popular vote counting to elect.

Man... how do those Democrats ever do anything, seeing as they're all illegal aliens who've committed felonies and can't show up on time for anything.

the electoral college needs to be disbanded. if this is done then, and only then, will it be true that every vote counts.

What's wierd is, nobody likes it. Why has it not been changed? It's supposed the give more voice to people in smaller areas. I always thought it felt like it took away your voice if your stated went the wrong color every year.
