Giuliani 'ran like a coward on 9/11'
A New York Fire Department official says former mayor Rudy Giuliani decided 'which direction he was going to run' on September 11, 2001.
"We want America to know that [the Giuliani campaign] is lying to America and to the American pubic," New York Fire Department Deputy Chief Jim Riches said Tuesday at a rally organized by the families of the firefighters killed on Sept. 11 in Orlando.
"Telling all of Florida that the New York City Fire Department backs him, when that's another lie," Riches added.
Riches said the Republican presidential candidate had to make many decisions. "Yet, the decision he made was, which direction he was going to run. And he ran north, and that's all he did."
The NY firefighter then added that the US media portrayed Giuliani as a hero.
"America stay calm and everything will be alright. We will pull through this," Riches quoted the former New York mayor as saying on September 11.
He concluded that the 63-year-old candidate 'ran like a coward' and that's all he did.
Rudy Giuliani, who is heavily influenced by a group of hawkish neoconservatives, has campaigned strongly on his leadership during the terrorist attacks on New York.
