Of greater concern is that in the years prior to 2001, Guiliani authorized the construction of a $13M "emergency command center" located on the 23rd floor of WTC7. Critics immediately questioned the wisdom of the location, in that it was a) 23 stories up, rather than underground, and b) in the shadow of the #1 terrorist target. In fact, the WTC towers had already been attacked in 1993.

Nonetheless, Guiliani insisted on the location, and he got it. And conspiracy theories aside, WTC7 was destroyed in the attacks when tens of thousands of gallons of stored diesel fuel near the ground floor ignited, weakening the building supports.
I don't know that much about Rudys actions as mayor before 911, but I know enough about him to not heap mounds of praise on him. My niece lives in Brooklyn & was a legal aid attorney. She is not a Rudy admirer.

I heard there was a study on Giulliani and how much time he actually dealt with 9/11. Apparently, in the remaining 3 months he was in office after the attacks he spent more time at yankees games than at ground zero!!!

P.s. I also hear that the New York fire department hates this guy because Giulliani was one of the people who said the air at ground zero was "ok". It is now known that the air around ground zero was toxic and has caused major health problems to those workers who spent time there after the attacks.....

    Yep.

Guiliani used 9/11, and still does, as did Bush, Cheney and the PNAC NeoCons, to pump up their false machismo and their political careers.

Unfortunately, a lot of Sheeple fell for their bullshit.

As I recall Giuliani had some labor disagreements with FDNY. Does anyone besides me think that it's a possible motive to accuse Giuliani of cowardice?
Possibly since he isn't exactly pro union.

I never understood how anybody could believe that the air was ok there, no matter who said it was ok.

The difference between Guiliani and Nagin is that Nagin KNEW a hurricane was coming.

The blame is on the administration.
The stand down of our fighter jets and defense protocol says a little something about what really happened that day.

Conspiracy Theories aside, I think that fireman's speech had a lot more to do with politics than what happened that day.

I thought the same thing when I first read the article.
Funny how this comes out 6 years later nearing the elections.
