Thread: Problems of the Modern Age

Just as an informal pole, I was wondering what our (our as in humanities) greatest public problem is, according to yall. This includes Politics, economics, social issues, religious issues, U.S. issues, international issues, hell, even local issues. Anything you think is our greatest current problem is what I would like to know.

The purpose of this is for a Public Issue Paper (two actualy) that I will be writing in the near future. One will be a mear discussion of a contovesial topic, and the other will be myself taking opossition against something else.

Might I just ask that the discussion / debate be kept to a minimal. Thanks.

Population.

Social Issue: The breakdown of the family, which in turn leads to more crime, more uneducated people, etc.

Public education. We're raising a generation of morons. We're going to be in big trouble, if we have to fight a war against the Chinese or the Russkies, or even the Indians or Pakistanis. Why? 'Cause they're gonna have more rocket scientists than we do, and that's a problem. There's a lot of kids wallkin' around out there, whose biggest aspiration in life is a little BLING hangin' around their necks or whatever - know what I mean?

Yeah, I'd say, all things considered, that's a very serious problem right now.

I think nonsqtr hit it. "The dumming down of America".
The three Rs are being left behind.

Ownership/sharing of natural resources.

education.

I think that once you take care of the political issues that plague this country, and run things as laid out in the constitution education, the economy, foreign policy and everything else will take care of itself. The country can't and will not survive if things stay on track, and we all know that it wont stay on track, it will only stray further from what we once knew as the good old US-of-A!

In order for anybody to have an inkiling of what politics are, beyond the welfare/nanny state, they must first be educated.

Corporate greed will eventually be the downfall of not only our society, but the rest of the world.
