Bush: NIE does not reflect my views

Bush: NIE does not reflect my views

The US President says the intelligence agencies are independent and their findings do not reflect his views on Iran's nuclear program.

"I defended our intelligence services, but made it clear that they're an independent agency; that they come to conclusions separate from what I may or may not want," said the US President George W. Bush.

Bush said he still viewed Iran as "a threat" despite a US National Intelligence Estimate, released last month, which confirmed the peaceful nature of Tehran's nuclear program.

"He told the Israelis that he can't control what the intelligence community says, but that (the NIE's) conclusions don't reflect his own views" about Iran's nuclear-weapons program, an anonymous senior US administration official was quoted as saying in Newsweek magazine.

Asked whether Bush doubted the findings, White House spokeswoman Dana Perino did not answer directly but said "He does not believe that the NIE that was produced ... should provide anyone any comfort that Iran is not a threat."

Political pundits believe the NIE has dampened the Bush administration's attempts to portray Tehran's nuclear program as a threat.

But, but they were what he used to invade Iraq, before it was discovered that the estimates were manipulated and the facts stretched and the intel forced.

It's doesn't reflect his views today because he can't control them, they won't do his bidding. Got it.

God help us all - 369 days left of his madness.

American idealism doesn't seem to fit his views either.

He never learns? It's quite obvious that the left never learns. The NIE was wrong about Iraq. But hey, when they say what you want to hear about Iran, they must be right!!!! Looks like this is the second time you'll be getting fooled, shame on you.

Anyways, not all of the orgs were even in agreement.

And the NIE was wrong about Iran up until recently when they admitted the evidence did not support the administration's belligerent stance...

Bush - I say Iran's bad, so they're bad, Dang it! And if I say that 2 + 2 = 7, then it does! I don't care what the experts say! By the way, my daughter's havin' her wedding at a Ranch in Texas....I think its the "Chicken Ranch". I think shes gettin' hitched to some guy named "John".

You still honor me with thinking that I am so important to this forum you must mock me in your sig line. You make me more important than I am and you should provide a link so folks can enjoy our discussion (before you were told to stay away for a few days). Gee, ain't you a sweetheart.

The NIE was wrong about Iraq because they wrote it to appease GWB and this admin. I've provided links that show that results of those independent and congressional investigations into the admin's influence on the NIE are being withheld. And I have linked you to the DOD's inspector general's report that clearly showed the admin's distorted and manipulated the intel.

You can twist and spin as you like, that is what GWB did in 2002 and 2003, he just can't get the NIE to do it today, so the NIE's findings are more accurate today based on the actual intel.

You guys are laughable. "Oh they got it right this time". You only say that because what they said fits your preconceptions. And you obviously cannot comprehend that 2 or 3 intel orgs in the NIE disagreed with the over consensus. And you will never know what proof they have as that report will remain classified. All you have is a 2 or 3 page synopsis.

    You have nothing Vortex.

Apparently you think I do, you keep trying to torment me by keeping my comment in your sig.

And it is you with nothing, no intel to prove that what GWB "thinks" (<<<and I do use that word very loosely) is correct; no fly zones that are illegal to say that Iran is violating; no UN resolutions that Iran isn't complying with and that the US isn't complying with either - you got squat.

I know, if GWB says it, it has to be true. :sarcasm:
