"US 'doomed' if creationist president elected: scientists"

US 'doomed' if creationist president elected: scientists

    My thoughts:

I've been advocating that both Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee should read either "Thank God For Evolution" or "Finding Darwin's God" to allow them to realise that religious people can also accept the scientific reality of the world.

Also, I'm not very worried about this issue because I very much doubt that Mike Huckabee or Mitt Romney will gain the Republican nomination. Huckabee relies on the evangelical vote (which he can only count on in limited states) and just doesn't have the money to gain enough votes across other states and should Romney lose New Hampshire to McCain, which seems likely, I'd have to say that his chances will be dead and that by the time February 5 comes around no clear candidate would have amounted any realistic momentum and Giuliani will probably scoop up most of those February 5 states.

P.S. On the official website of Hillary Clinton she's asking people to ask her questions and that she will reply to 5 of the questions that are posed via her website and I asked her whether she would re-appoint the position of "science advisor" to the President and whether she would enforce the 'Separation of Church and State' by keeping "Intelligent Design" out of the U.S. education system so that only science is allowed to be taught in the science class.

Separation of Church and State is not part of the U.S. Constitution

well, unless you count the first amendment.

agree with the scientists in the article. america is on a slippery slope when it comes to science. people that think they can control the laws of nature, and ultimately their lives, through prayer and the like are taking us backwords at a time when we should be surging ahead.

science is as important now as its ever been, if not more-so, and the anti-evolution movement is just a giant ball and chain thats dragging any progress down.

the fact that only half the country thinks evolution is true is frightening.

is there really a problem with everyone not being on the same page about the origins of man? some people just aren't interested in history and would rather remain in their dreamworlds.

the problem arrises when the president or government pushes a belief on people, as in Islam. so are you suggesting that because a strict Christian takes a high office in the US that the people of the US would be subjected to religious law?

there are countless examples of where bushco surpressed scientific findings to push some agenda.

mans grasp of science is one of the biggest things that seperates us from other animals. for a president to do anything less then embrace it and help drive it forward is embarassing and shameful.

ok but I had a kid in school during the Bush administration and she was allowed to learn about the Bible and evolution and nothing was pushed or demanded of her.
so what's the fear of Christian religion in the presidency?
