    Serious Times

On the Coming Election - by Sharon Wells (great, great, great, great, great grand-daughter of John Jay who was First Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States of America)
Perhaps at no time in history is it as crucial as it is now that the right individual is chosen for President of the United States. The threat of Terrorism and the growing hatred towards the United States by the Muslim world are issues that increasingly put the safety of the USA at risk. I believe that Barack Obama
    • Because he is a person of color
    • Because he is a man (and not a woman)
    • Because he is very diplomatic and has a great deal of charisma and presence
    • Because he obviously has a high degree of intelligence (shown by his high standing at Harvard),
    • Because he shows great integrity
    • Because he has a plan to immediately call a summit with all of the Muslim countries after inauguration to address terrorism
could better handle this delicate situation and place this country on safer ground than any other candidate. He also has expressed many times in his campaign that the Democrats and Republicans need to work together to handle the grave situations that face this country both domestically and abroad. Truly it is time to be the United States of America and not the Divided States of America.

Hey, its alright and welcome. But you only have to post them once. Some will engage others and some won't. If people don't respond don't take it personal.

I'd rather see Obama as VP. He's essentially the antithesis of Dick Cheney: a handsome, academic, community-driven African American as opposed to a perpetually-sneering corporate-driven cheese-clogged artery of a White guy. Since Cheney elevated the position of VP past its practically ceremonial standing to an office to be feared and respected in policy-architecture, I think it would be a step in the right direction to have someone who's at least young and clinging to a shred of principle.

IMO, John Edwards is the only front-running candidate of either major party making any sense on nearly any issue. What are Obama's positions on the issues? Why does he deserve my vote or anyone's for that matter?

If the democrats had a lick of sense they would nominate him. He's the only one who would undoubtedly kick all the repubs asses.
