Russert had to desperately dug up his 'dirt' against Ron Paul from dubious sources going back decades. Pathetic.
I can see some of that but mostly it seemed he wanted to clarify Paul's position on those issues; the same issues that got Paul his name in those periods.
It takes me about 20 minutes to get to Paul's district in Galveston so you can bet he is quite well known around here for some of the things he said back in those days.. so I felt Russert had the right to ask.
The important thing is Paul did well.
i spent this past shabbat with a chassdic jew.
eventually, the politics came up through the discussion of taxes.
the chassidic jew said "theres one guy who wants to eliminate income taxes. I support him"
ahahah.....
Paul is a nut case who's true ambition is Texas Governorship. A Doctor who believes in Creationism and supports a Gold Standard give us a break. Gold assets of the Mint service institutions aggregate $3,000,000,000.GDP (official exchange rate):
$13.16 trillion (2006 est.)
Well, it was an entertaining show if nothing else. I'm not in the Paul for Prez camp, but some of the topics he discussed were very interesting. Like bringing home all foreign troops, ending the drug war, allowing only congress to declare war, legalizing drugs (oddly they didn't get to the Federal Reserve, or at least I missed it if they did).
It was funny when Little Russ pulled out all the quotes against Reagan, Poppa and Baby Bush, I don't even remember Paul's answer, but regardless of what he said it's clear this trio are not his three favorite people...
