Half of Mexicans in US 'illegal'

More than half of the estimated 11 million Mexicans residing in the US are there illegally, according to a report by the Mexican government.

Two-thirds of Mexicans who migrate, or try to migrate, to the US every year do so without documents, it said.

The report, timed to coincide with the UN International Migrants Day, said almost 30 million people in the US were direct descendants of Mexican migrants.

Illegal immigration is set to be a key issue in the 2008 US presidential poll.

The illegal entry to the US, via its southern border, of an estimated 500,000 people each year, has led the US government to start building a security fence along the most sensitive areas.

US President George W Bush's attempts to overhaul immigration laws collapsed amid heated debate in Congress earlier this year.

The question of how to address illegal immigration, without alienating the large Hispanic electorate, is a tricky political issue for candidates.

We need to deport as many of them as we can, and abolish the minimum wage.

How do they count people who hide, and have no birth records in this country, and provide fake identitiy papers to work. They're all under the radar, how can you even estimate without it being your garden variety wild ass'd guess?

How ya gonna round em up and deport them?

I say welcome. They are a lot better neighbors than the white trach pieces of shit across the street from me. There house (which they bought a year ago) is kept immaculate. Their kids don't have loud parties like the other kids, they don't have a dog tied up in the front yard. I say they are good people, and I would rather have them around me than some of the the lazy ass, dirty, white trash Americans.

And set down severe penalties for small private business owners. No jobs, no work, no money, no incentive to border jump. Er at east the amount will be less.

It makes sense for us to clear out the illegals who work here because we're gonna need each and every job here for legal Americans with all the upcoming economic uncertainty that turning our backs on the Chinese, and blowing how many Trillions on a failed war has gotten us.

I agree with you for the most part, as I hate white trash redneck illiterates, but you are leaving off the WHOLE other half the the argument to suit your needs. But I guess thats how politics works

What about some Mexicano families that DO throw loud noisy parties and do have a trashy yard and all those things that white trash do? There are plenty of them out there you know. And how about the tremendous burden on hospitals and etc..? Every pregnant woman comes over here, has like 6 kids off the taxpayers shoulders. I'm not saying we turn them away and tell them to have the kid in the ditch, but something should be done about it. I don't really know what but when I do I'll get back to you.

But really, I know a few illegals and they couldn't be nicer, or more respectful or trustworthy people. Great friends of mine in fact. It would probably make me cry if I saw them get deported. But I would do everything in my power to get them here legally. They are actually working on that right now but it takes a lot of time.

They should be, but it doesn't mean I want my friends gone too. And if they do, then I'll help them come back legally.

Er let me pose another question, should personal feeling interfere with politics? Just like me and my illegal friends. What do you think about that TFM? What kind of answer were you looking for?
