    And I’m not kidding

    America’s Civil War

We here in America have a new civil war. It is not one with guns and bloodshed or between the north and the south. It is civil war of political ideology. Our political representatives are using their political ideology to divide the American people, liberal Democrat against conservative Republican. Both party’s are driving a wedge between the American people for the upcoming 2008 presidential election. They are using the old “divide and conquer” approach to get your vote. Each party’s views on almost every political topic are so far apart from one another that I think that it has reached the point where each party has to go to the extreme left or extreme right to appease their supporters. I think that it is this extremist mentality from both party’s that is turning the American people off from voting, and is one of the reasons why only one third of us Americans even bother to vote. You almost feel like you have to be a crazed screaming liberal hell bent on forcing your way of thinking on the rest of America. Or you have to be a straight laced conservative that thinks that if your not a conservative, your are just blind to the truth and need lots of prayer. What’s sad is that both of these extremist groups comprise only about one third of the American population that are eligible to vote. The other two thirds of the American people who are eligible to vote, don’t even bother to register, and it’s not because they don’t love their country. I think they’re just tired of being lied to and screwed by the very people who promised to look out for them and represent them. The ever growing division can be seen throughout the 2008 presidential race. I do not believe that there is a single topic that concerns the American people that both party’s can agree on. Just look at how each of the party’s are running their campaigns, as usual, both are promising we voters everything but the kitchen sink, and it won’t be long before they through that in too. The Republicans are still promising to keep the tax cuts in place (mainly for the rich) and to keep us safe from the terrorists around the world and protecting our borders,( but not so much on the border part) and what else? We all know the conservative ideology of banning abortion, the right to own guns, limit stem cell research, and what? oh yeah, winning the war in Iraq no matter what the cost. The Democrats on the other hand are for free health care for everybody( legal citizen or not) higher taxes on everybody, free condoms and birth control pills for eleven year olds, and free abortions (just in case the condoms and the pills don’t work) The Democrats ideological views are also well known. They’re liberal views on just about every subject are a constant reminder of why criminals have more rights (or just about) then the average hardworking American. Or why we can’t profile against criminals, (because you just may be right) which goes hand and hand with their best laid plan of political correctness. Most liberal Democrats are also for a clean and green America, accept for when it comes to actually doing something about, right Al. The Democratic and the Republican party’s with their political propaganda machines are dividing our country by trying to brainwash the American voters into supporting their candidate. Friends you must know by now that this is all part of the game they play to hijack your vote. They are not running for presidency to serve you, the American people. They are running for the power that the presidency gives their party to control your tax dollars and the White House in that game. That is why they promise you everything including the kitchen sink to get your vote. If you think that they are running to truly resolve the problems that we face as a nation today, and that they truly do care. You my friend, are delusional. Think about this for a moment, every candidate running for the Presidency, has either represented or is presently representing us as a Governor, Senator, or Congressman, and they have done little or nothing to resolve any of the problems that we face as a nation. What makes you think that they will do anything different when you elect president. These Senators and Congressmen can’t even work together on concerns of the American people. They can’t agree on how to protect our borders, or how to save our jobs from going overseas. Two topics that are very important to the American people. The topic of our open borders is so important to we American’s, that we are even willing to stand guard ourselves because our politicians ignore our cry for help to protect them. I thought that we elected our leaders to represent “us” and protect our country. It doesn’t look like they are doing either. How much more are you willing to take America. Aren’t you tired of it yet? Well I am, and that’s why I wrote my book entitled: Aren’t you tired of it yet? To share with you my thoughts and ideas on how I think we can not only change way our politicians are running our country, but who is running our country. Check out my web site at Alan Paul Schmidtberg wants to be your 2008 Independent candidate for President. and read a free chapter or two and some excerpts from the book, and if I peak interests your any, you can by the book, there is a link there also.
Thank you and God Bless you,

Maybe I should run for president. Sounds like a great way to get people to send you money. And you get to travel.

What you're describing is not any kind of revelation in my opinion. In the case of the Republicans it is George Bush's failure to be victorious in Iraq that is pushing Conservatives to the far right. And it's the innefectiveness of Pelosi and Reid to break the deadlock in Iraq that pushes the Liberals to the far left. Both parties hate the extreme far ends of the other party and there is nobody left in the moderate middle. So hatred is high but certainly not at an all time high. We'll survivie and it'll be better when either Guilliani or Clinton gets elected and they break this silly "stay the course" "surge is working" nonsense. That's what really has us at each other's throats.

This isn't really true. They focus their attention on the political topics on which they have differences, and they are becoming more extreme. However, both parties are very similar on many of the most important political topics, such as foreign policy and general monetary policy. And their push to be extreme is not to appease their supporters but to appease their corporate masters who give them their agendas. The candidates tend to try and act more moderate so as to get as many of the independent votes as possible.

What freethinkr says and in the primaries, candidates work on the edges to get the nomination then shift back to the center to win the general. Remember GWB and compassionate conservatism; on this forum I think most think that was a load of shit. Conservatives don't think W is conservative and liberals sure as hell don't think he is compassionate.

if you see liberialism as a danger to the USA and the world, then you better forget about having Hillary Clinton as President. I wouldn't vote for her in a hundred years ! I hate everything she stands for and disagree with just about everything she has to say, she's bad for the USA.

Miss Clinton or Obama won't be able to bring the people together as much as you may think, for one - while it may help the cause of the Democrats it will only open up more hate from the opposing party who disagree to the 3rd degree, me being one that will do everything to upset any plan she has because I know they are all bad and do nothing but cost me more money.

These are three things I look for in a presidential candidate:

-Does not use the Comic Sans font ever, for any reason.

-Does not inexplicably bold an entire typed essay.

-Makes liberal use of paragraph breaks.

So, Schmidtberg is not my top choice at the moment.

I'll go one step further SWM. I want that man arrested for crimes against English composition.

Even in America there must be SOME minimum standards.

Re: America First, The Rest of The World Comes Second

America first, and the rest of the world second?

No thanks, I won't be voting for that.

Seems like we've HAD that, for the last six/seven years, and look where it's gotten us.

Nope, sorry. No can do. It's time for a change, and "America first" isn't quite what I had in mind.

I'm kinda thinking in terms of Occam's Razor these days: "do not over-extend the empire beyond necessity".
