    Naomi Klein's The Shock Doctrine

Naomi Klein, discussing her book The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism with MSNBC's Keith Olbermann, outlines how crises, real or perceived, have been used by governments, especially the United States under George W. Bush, to strongarm a disoriented citizenry into accepting changes to its rights, and its government, that it wouldn't otherwise accept.

Ok! This is on my Winter Solstice holiday wish list....something tells me I could have written this book.

"The Shock Doctrine" is one of the most compelling rationales for the mess we're in today that I've heard. I hope she starts getting some traction with her book to help us roll back the policies implemented by Bush when we weren't watching.

Problem is, Dave, we were watching. We watched it all and accepted it because we are sheep. The American public are sheep that are so easily led....but they are also fickle. So many were all for us going into Iraq and getting that sumbitch Hussein because of the promise of a cakewalk. As soon as the bodybags started to come home, everyone's got their balls in a bunch. Citizens from both parties allowed our representatives bypass the constitution to allow Bushco to illegally go to war. Citizens from both parties allowed our representatives to pass the Patriot Act....because they bought the fear sold to them by Bushco and the media.

I don't know, I've been trying to figure this out for a while. Bill pays basically no attention to him, yet Keith seems to obsess over Bill. I guess Bill just doesn't swing that way.

Hard to say. Maybe you should go start a thread about it?

It's kind of creepy. Olberman just wishes he had half of O'Riely's viewers...

That would be awesome. To get rich off of dumb asses. Dumb asses have propelled many evangelists.
