The most-watched television programs in the United States are "American Idol," "Dancing with the Stars" and "The Biggest Loser."

And I'm happy to say I watch none of them.
"While I am a great believer in the free competitive enterprise system and all that it entails, I am an even stronger believer in the right of our people to live in a clean and pollution-free environment. To this end, it is my belief that when pollution is found, it should be halted at the source, even if this requires stringent government action against important segments of our national economy."

    An interesting article.

    Surprising, too.

It says that McCain might have a chance of winning.

    So it's wrong, also.

any limit on political office that is legislated is a step away from democracy.

    term limits

    retirement limits

    even ethics

it stands in the way. The people of the constituency should hear all the facts, and they should still decide. The will of the people can sometimes be ugly but it should always be honored.

I don't buy the "step away from democracy" line, in fact, I would say limits give life to democracy by allowing for change on a more frequent/regular basis. These "career" politicians are what's wrong with the system, they get elected, reelected, and the longer they stay, the more suseptable they become to the influence of lobbiests and corruption. Not only that, it's a fact that as people age, the body & mind slow down making them less capable of doing things and making correct decisions.

The will of the people should be honored, but retirement limits do not infringe on that will. It merely states that the people must find another to adequately represent them. Retirement limits would have sent Robert Byrd and John Dingle to the rest home a long time ago and rightfully so; Byrd probably thinks he's at the rest home already. The military has retirement limits and so should the House and Senate.
