    Both parties are wide open until the first primaries are over. The media may have proclaimed Hillary the queen of the dems but the actual voters have not yet done so.

    Competition in the GOP just shows the candidates aren't all carbon copies of a single idea, doesn't seem to be the case for the dems. What will happen to the dems when they finally realize that bashing Bush won't win them an election in which Bush isn't running?

    Exactly! The guy has a lot of great ideas, but he isn't a leader. He isn't a statesman. I don't want another federalist Republican elitist in the White House. And that is what Thompson, Guiliani, McCain, and Romney are. Federalist Republicans. They are Lincolnesque, in my opinion. FDR-Republicans. Not Reagan-Republicans. The only modern Republican running is Mike Huckabee and the only traditional Republican is Ron Paul, who, for the last twenty years has held more in common with the Libertarian Party than the GOP.
