Homeowners in New London, Connecticut took on the city’s leaders after they announced plans to condemn all of the homes in one neighborhood to make way for a private development project for pharmaceutical giant Pfizer. The city said it would bring in thousands of jobs. After a 2005 Supreme Court ruling against the homeowners, the entire neighborhood was bulldozed. This week Pfizer announced it is shutting down its research center.

Pfizer is scheduled to be out of the sight buy, guess when...the first year they're due to pay their own taxes on the property. That's right, not only did New London take private property and give it to Pfizer, but it made it's residents foot the tax bill!

If we would not get arrested for Bio-Terrorism, I would suggest we all send bags of barf, labeled "Eminent Domain" to the Justices of the Supreme Court.

That's pretty funny, I have to admit. Don't forget though, the SC said it was all cool.

Hey, actually the SCOTUS ruled on the precedent for this on Bush's watch, and they had his full support.

The article doesn't say, were the homeowners compensated for their property at fair market value by the city?

Not that it matters a whole hell of a lot but not really. If by "fair market value" you mean if they wanted to sell it privately to a person wanting to use the property as a dwelling then yes, if by "fair market value" you mean the value of the property to a multi billion dollar corporation wanting to build a reasearch and development facility then no.
