    recent events

10 years ago I would have never really paid attention to politics in as far to know who the candidates actually were. I haven't been on this earth very long (32years), however I have been around the world and back I served 4 years in our military and traveled quite extensively. I am somewhat educated with a BS in poly sci but went back to school and ended up in the medical field.

In lieu of recent events within the last 10 years, and within the past few months especially. I find it very disheartening what seems to be happening within our country. It seems we have lost something along the way but no one including myself seems to no what it is.

I hear how the dollar is at a 30 year low and plummeting, yet the media of course says everything is OK.
I hear how we are making progress in Iraq, but forces behind the scenes are working against us (Russia/Iran/Syria,and now possibly Turkey).
I see the cost of living rising around us w/o any hope of our wages increasing along with it.
I see oil reaching astronomical prices (90 dollars a barrel as of yesterday), and some idiot on one of the financial channels saying 100 dollars a barrel would be good for us.

I hear many politicians talking and promising things that they never will or never have delivered.

I really do try to limit my news watching to 3hrs a week as I hope it is not as bad as some make it out to be. However when I walk into work and hear other people who are concerned, it makes me wonder what our future holds.

I mean how much more shit are we as Americans going to take from elected officials (By the way I am not advocating revolution yet).

I see Guiliani, Clinton, Thompson, and the rest as liars.
I like Obama somewhat, I really like Ron Paul, but do either one have a shot I mean I mention either one at work just out of curiosity and I get either, he will not get elected due to experience or WHO? did you say.
The ones who no RP say he is great but too Idealistic, I counter with well even if he cant do everything he wants to he at the very least can do know harm.

I guess the reason I posted this is, one it seems no one cares or two has no idea how to care even if they wanted to and two I wanted to see if anyone out there sees a silver lining or are we headed for even more financial and military pain for the next 4 years?
I mean GW still has one year left to screw us and the military over even more.
BTW I'm usually not a doom and gloom kind of guy but, jesus can we get a break people from some of our problems and all I did was skim the surface.

I hear ya Chad, and I feel your sentiments. I see no silver lining. I refuse to live life like it is all doom and gloom, but I shudder to think where this country is headed. Until the people are willing to stand up for the change that is needed to turn this country around, we will remain on the slippery slope we are on now.

Good post! We have to keep spreading the word about Ron Paul.

    Re: recent events

First of all, study US history and you'll find this isn't the first time we've been down this road. The late 19th and early 20th century is a good place to start (roughly 1875-1908)

Secondly, have faith in our People. Jefferson believed our People would ultimately do what's right in the end and I agree with him. In spite of fits and starts, The People have always demonstrated enough good sense to preserve the nation. They will be this time too.

Thirdly, when the next election comes up, at any level of government, let this be your guide: VOICE

    Vote
    Out
    Incumbent
    Candidates
    Everywhere

Doesn't matter what party or what they espouse. If they're in office now, toss 'em out. Break the bonds which tie them to whatever special interests they are beholden to; shatter the power brokers connections; break up the "good ol' boy" network.

    You have a VOICE....Use it!
