Why do we care about Mahmoud Achmadinejad?

He is a figurehead. An international person who is supposed to be the public front of Iran to the world.

Ayatollah Khahemeni is the head of state for Iran.
Ayatollah Khahemeni is the guardin of the Islamic revolution.
Ayatollah Khahemeni is the one that all the clerics in Iran give their power.
Ayatollah Khahemeni is the ultimate authority in all of Iran.
The Revolutionary Guard, the nationalist clerics, and 95% of the power holders in Iran will get rid of Achmadinejad the second he proves no longer useful.
He proves useful by trying to provoke the United States Military, thus justifying the increased military expenditures (AKA the Iranian Military Industrial Complex).
The less we care about him, the less the actual power holders in Iran care about him, and he will simply be removed once he outlives his usefulness to them.

Actual poweheads never go to foreign universities to promote their ideaology or defend themselves in the public. The only people who do that are figureheads - people who are disposable should the host country suddenly cut all diplomacy.

Yes, he has the power to raise interest rates, enforce existing laws, direct appropriations internally.
99% of his power is figurehead. The 1% of his actual power is merely internal, or legislative.
100% of his executive power is figurehead.

Perhaps we "care" because we see Amadinejad and not so much Khamenei.

The US has and always will hate when a person express his opinion and it is very much different from ours. We tell the world to be like us and when they do, but it opposes our thinking, we don't like it. So he said a few statements we may find repulsive, so does Bush. If you don't like what he says, just ignore him. But we continue to give him media time, and sure enough, people tune in. So now there is talk of war with Iran and for what? What would it accomplish?

The only obstacle to US hegemony in the region would be removed.

"Finally, we must maintain the mechanisms for deterring potential competitors from even aspiring to a larger regional or global role.

In the Middle East and Southwest Asia, our overall objective is to remain the predominant outside power in the region and preserve U.S. and Western access to the region’s oil."

Most people dont know that thanks to the "liberal media".

    US 'planning surgical Iran strikes'
