We pay for every.fucking.thing. that they get provided with and don't pay for. That's why it astounds me that so many people are pro-illegal immigrant invasion. Blows my mind.

Glad to see that local police officers are doing the job that the federal government is supposed to do. No, actually, I'm not. What a waste of city resources.

"After their 2006 arrest in a sting set up by local and federal authorities, the men were handed over to federal agents, held without charge for days or weeks, then transported to detention centers before being released on bond, court documents said"

My favorite part. Welcome to the police state.

Is it realistic to believe that federal authorities can actually find and prosecute the millions of illegals in this country? Local law enforcement needs to be on board if capturing and deporting illegals is going to be effective. Twenty years ago I would agree that local agencies would be wasting tons of resources to inform the federal government of all illegals they have come in contact with, but as technology has expanded that process is much easier and far less taxing to local agencies. Not only do local agencies need to be on board, but also the local populations. There needs to be vast improvements made for reporting illegals and documenting their presence in this country.

I disagree. Spreading the police force out to try to find illegals would strain their resources even more. I worry about them catching the violent crackhead over someone looking for work.

When I read the article, that was my first question too. It doesnt say "Illegal Immigrants".

    before being released on bond

I wonder what the charges were.

The attorneys would not discuss their clients' immigration status

Im sure the city should be happy to hand that information over, and is it not a matter of public record in the criminal matter.

Excellent point. If they were illegal, then why would they be released rather than deported?

Sounds to me like the local yokels set themselves up for a lawsuit.

I'm willing to compromise on this matter. I believe that any time local agencies come in contact with an illegal they should be reporting that to the federal authorities, they need not actually tax themselves by searching for them for that purpose alone. I find it appalling that illegals can work up a two page rap sheet in this country and nobody seems to know about it and that they aren't deported. To me it is also a matter of public safety. If they are committing crimes and are caught and found to be illegal aliens they need to be pointed out to the feds and deported.
