Hey guys... i hear a lot about a guy named Ron Paul so since i don't keep up... could someone fill me in? he's running for pres. right?
okay so u don't like him. so can i get a completly factual statement not meant to corrupt my fragile little mind
No no no. don't listen to mykcob, he just recently had a brain tumor removed....ummm...and we don't let him loose like this usually........Isn't it time for your nap mykcob?????:sarcasm:
Anywho, Ron Paul is different from all other candidates becuase both Democrats and Republicans have endorsed him. What he emphasizes is the fact that we need to end the legal manuvering that is done around the constitution and start governing in a more constutionaly driven way. He is against gay marriage, he is pro life, but I don't care. He's the only candidate who stands a ghost of a chance of changing the crappy direction our country is going.
Well search the info yourself, or don't you know how to do that.
Here is a method.
1)Find out his biography. Not the one he publishes but a factual one from independent sources. Extract info from it like place of birth, schools attended, degrees, military service...etc!
2)Search his criminal record from the newspapers of the places he lives/d.
3)Search his military record.
4)Search his job history.
5)Find out what civic offices he has held and search his voting record on issues and policies. Compare that record with party affiliation.
6)Go to his website and see how he says he stands on issues now.
7)Go to the various parties websites and compare to how the stand on issues with his stance.
Starting a thread to get information and expecting not to get opinion is naive.
I said what I said because I took the time to investigate. Ron Paul is no more than a republican/conservative that tries to portray himself as something different. If he really thought he was an independent he would declare himself independent. All "liberterians" say thet they are different than republicans but they debate at republican forums, run in republican primaries and endorse republican candidates. They are republican!
No he claims republican at this time for exposure. Just who would he debate at the independant debates? No such animal. When the time comes he will run as the independant he is but for now he needs the exposure and he is certainly more conservative than your democrat.
He is really nothing like the other republicans mykcob4, he is the only repub to claim the current admin incompetant and the war a mistake.
He's an honest, straight talking paleolibertarian constitutionalist with a sizable internet fan base. That being said, he exists far outside the mainstream and doesn't have a hope in hell of gaining the nomination.
He stands out from the other Republican nominees because of his emphasis on civil liberties, a non-interventionist foreign policy as well as small government. Among his many goals - abolishing the Federal Reserve, returning to the Gold Standard, eliminating income tax, increasing states power, withdrawing from NATO/UN/WTO. He is also hostile to the continued occupation in Iraq.
Paul comes off as a naive and downright foolish ideologue in my view, although he's rather popular around these parts.
