Minot airman dies while on leave

    The Associated Press

MINOT, N.D. — Minot Air Force Base officials say an airman from the base has died while on leave in Virginia.
A statement from the base says Airman 1st Class Todd Blue, 20, died Monday while visiting with family members in Wytheville, Va. The statement did not say how he died but said the incident is under investigation.
The base says Blue was a response force member assigned to the 5th Security Forces Squadron. He enlisted in the Air Force in March 2006 and was assigned to the Minot base the following August.
“He constantly stepped up to help out his fellow airmen and was a vital presence in squadron sports and volunteer programs,” Lt. Col. John Worley, the 5th Security Forces Squadron commander, said in the base statement.

Lordy, i don;t believe I've ever read a post quite so, um, reaching. Maybe you can get one of the posters here to say, if we weren't in Iraq, this airman would not be dead.
    ACCIDENTS HAPPEN!!!

Yeah, Migi, and gullible is written on the ceiling.

Three servicemen blow the whistle on a massively illegal operation and then a guy from the base where the operation was launched kicks the bucket... nothing to see here folks, move along...

yeah, it makes total sense to kill them after the atomic cat is out of the irrelevant bag.

So why is the looney-toon community flipping out over the occasional transport of nukes, anyway? It's not like the government buys them then leaves them stacked up on the factory loading dock. right?

    .
ok, good, I love to speculate... what do you think happened?
you think he was exposed to radiation? nah.
think he was suppose to drop one of those bombs in flight, didn't carry out the mission and was bumped off?
if he was suppose to drop one accidently... for whom?
or did the military need to transport the nukes and didn't have the time to do all the paperwork and they just flew them quickie like... and the kid ratted them out?

    what are your suspicions?

It is an issue for a couple of reasons:

First, it was not a planned transport at all. They were attached to the wings of a jet and flown across the country and apparently no one knew they were nukes. It is a clear security issue. Of all the things that should be kept track of, nukes is number one on the list. That is why people involved were fired and lost their certifications to handle them.

Second, flying nukes to transport then is a violation of treaty obligations. We are not allowed to fly nukes around. Trcks and trains are fine. But no flying them.

Third, had the plane crashed, they could have seriously contaminated the area with radioactive material.

That all said, the implication that this guy was killed over it ranks this as a good threat fo the "conspiracy theory" forum. IMO it is total nonsense and paranoid speculation.
