Bush on Iraq: 'We're kicking ass'


President Bush will give his progress report on Iraq next week, based on information from Gen. David Petraeus.


WASHINGTON (CNN) — When President Bush made a surprise visit to Iraq last weekend, he made clear he was pleased with what he saw.

"The security situation is changing," Bush told reporters during the visit. "There's more work to be done. But reconciliation is taking place."

But according to the Sydney Morning Herald of Australia, the president gave a more-to-the-point assessment to Australia Deputy Prime Minister Mark Vaile.
"We're kicking ass," Bush said to Vaile Tuesday, according the Herald, after the deputy prime minister inquired about his trip to Iraq.

On Thursday, White House spokeswoman Dana Perino would not confirm or deny the reported comment.

This is what Invayne and I are talking about. How is this thread any different than all the other 'Iraq's progress sucks' thread? Why can't all of these be merged into one topic. All this thread is going to do is 1.Die or 2. Become a circle jerk/flame war because this whole topic has been rehashed using different words at least one per day.

Your attempts to stifle discussion of these topics is noted and not appreciated.

Could you possibly explain why this thread is different than any other thread on this site and merited it's own thread? Would this topic not fit in a thread regarding 'Iraq is not safe' or 'Surge is not meeting goals'?

It is a different take on it. It is based on different quotes and comments.

Like I said, stop advocating censorship. No one here should be advocating that. There is no need for you to try and stifle debate or discussion of issues.

If you do not like what I'm posting, no one is making you open or read thread one. Just ignore all of my threads and go read something else. Only you are responsible for what you choose to read. My posts do not stop anyone from posting anything they wish. Maybe you should start a thread on something you want to discuss. Whatever. But advocating censorship of certain topics is not acceptable.

But why could it not go into a thread along the same topic? Why did you need to create a new thread which knocks topic that do not have multiple threads off the page? And I had you on ignore. The page was empty half the time. It became a pain in the ass. It's not stifling. There is no need to start a new thread everytime you want to contribute. That is the point of a thread.

The topic of the war and many others are COMPLEX. Not every angle or sub-topic relating to it fits onto some single thread. I'll start as many different threads as I feel are required to explore that complexity and the verious angles. Stop the attempted censorship routine.

Stop trying to stifle discussion of topics you do not like discussing. Go read something else if you do not like it. There is a lot here to choose from. You totally exaggerate the number of threads I post anyway. It is a totally ridiculous obsession with you. Get over it.

You have started 254 threads. That's not an exaggeration. It's public, you can check it. That is in less than 5 months that is 51 per month, more than one per day. Even more considering you have taken some time off.

You are telling me that not a single one of those 254 threads could have just as easily contributed to another thread already in existence?
