The House voted no, but Mexican trucks are coming anyway

Since 1982, Mexican trucks have had to stop within a buffer border zone and transfer their loads to U.S. trucks.
But Bush wants to change that. He wants Mexican trucks to cruise right on in and drive all over the country. How's that for protecting the borders? How's that for homeland security. Face it folks, Bush ain't for homeland security, he's for big profits for big business. That's what this is about. Mexican truckers get paid way less, don't have restrictions on how many hours they can drive non-stop so the big corps can make more billions using them instead of American truckers.

(Washington, D.C.) - The Teamsters Union salutes the U.S. House of Representatives for overwhelmingly passing a bill today that would halt the Bush administration’s reckless pilot program to open our highways to unsafe Mexican trucks until U.S. safety and security standards are met. The vote was 411-3.
The House voted against this. The Teamsters Union has been fighting against it.
And Bush is planning to go ahead anyway.
The union said it has been told by officials in the Transportation Department's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration that the first Mexican trucks will be coming across the border on Saturday.
Teamsters leaders said they planned to seek an emergency injunction Wednesday from the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco.
"What a slap in the face to American workers, opening the highways to dangerous trucks on Labor Day weekend, one of the busiest driving weekends of the year," said Teamsters President Jim Hoffa.
Happy Labor Day weekend everyone! American truck drivers are screwed. Bush strikes again against the American people.

It's important that we keep the prices of tomatoes down. This is a good step toward that objective. Every American should be able to afford a nice salad or BLT.

    Sincerely,
    Jorge Bush

HAHA! Well sadly US truck drivers won't be able to afford even a Mexican salad when they are out of a job.

The Business of America is Business, with the exception that they only want do business at the cheapest possible cost and at the expense of American jobs. It is so sad that this is happening more and more, and yet the American public just seems to take it with a grain of salt. It would be nice to see the American public elect a new party and start a real change. If not, then the illegals will soon be taking office.

So how can the President go forward with this after the house overwhelmingly voted it down? I don't understand that? Is it legal?

It's set to being on Saturday.

The same way he got into office. The same way he ignored the Katrina victims. The same way he go into office the 2nd time. The same way he invaded Iraq on a lie. I think you get the picture, don't you?

I'm amazed every time he does this kind of thing. And where is it on the news? All they want to talk about is gay sex.

You know that the Media is biased. They never really report what is really going on. By the time this news gets out to the masses (if it ever does) it'll be too late for anyone to do anything about it. And even if they try to do anything about it, Bush will be out of office by then and all the damage will have been done.

It's amazing...since 1982 Mexican trucks have stopped and unloaded into US trucks and now, during this time of much needed border protection, Bush pulls this. Even after the House voted against it.

I mean who are the lawmakers here, congress or the president?

Neither. "He who has the gold, makes the rules!"
