I read this letter in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in the Sunday August 12, 2007 edition. Hear it is word for word:
Early reports coming back from ground commanders in Iraq are showing proress after troop surge was implemented by President Bush. This positive news is, of course, not making it to the front pages. Only the typical negative reports involving the body counts of U.S. troops suit most ot the major news media's political action line.
All along the Democrats and the left-one and the same these days-have been so invested in defeat that they would cut and run just to achieve their own political gains. The minute we heard of some promise a few weeks ago, Democratic congressional leaders Sen. Harry Reid and Rep. Nancy Pelosi felt desparate to dismantle this war by issuing non-stop surrender votes. How does this not embolden the enemy?
To me, this is as clear as can be: It's all about trying to make the administration look bad, with lots of help from their enablers in the media at the expense of our country.
I believe if those in the anti-war crowd would have gotten behind this war as fervently as they have opposed the war, our troops would indeed be home now. History will judge Bush fairly, and he will be vindicated and regarded as a true visionary for understanding that we need to confront Islamic fascism and eradicate it.
Mr. Sheople
