    July 30, 2007

This is a later article on the war than what some here would like to be seen.
I read on another thread an article from March 2007, & the poster would like us to believe that that article is the last word & testament on the war. Not true. WHile the war isn't over & a long way from being won, it ain't all bad as many on the left would have us believe.

That article has been discussed to death. One of the writers is a PNAC token liberal. The opinions of two jounalists that traveled where the military wanted them to travel, saw what the military wanted them to see, visited with the folks that the military wanted them to talk are hardly trustworthy.

Here, go read this thread that was posted when the article first came out.

Rep. Schakowsky: Petraeus hints at decade-long Iraq presence
    By Patrick Fitzgerald
    August 10, 2007
Gen. David Petraeus told a congressional delegation visiting the Middle East that success in Iraq will require a U.S. military presence there for about a decade, Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) said Friday.

The commander of U.S. troops in Iraq, who will deliver a highly anticipated progress report next month, said the U.S. “will be in Iraq in some way for 9 or 10 years,” according to Schakowsky. The general also highlighted progress in Anbar province, where former Sunni insurgents have turned against Al Qaeda extremists in recent months.

I don't know about you, but in my mind, having to be there 9 or 10 more years is hardly winning.

BTW, we did what was authorized and what we set out to do, we removed Saddam and we helped them form a government. What exactly is winning to you?

The Libs wont post on this, they need the U.S to fail to validate all the crap they have spewed. While this is good news, it does not change the fact that Bush mishandled the occupation. We could have been a lot closer to being out. But, all in all its nice to see progress being made.

Good Article, and the NYT no less, wow.....who woulda thunk it?

I did miss that on another thread, & apparently some others did too because they're still quoting March 2007 articles.
However, i think this article should be posted every day.

Have we won in Kosovo yet?

Winning is when we pull our troops back and Iraq can maintain itself.

Kosovo, isn't that NATO military action?

I have no qualms with our asking the UN and NATO forces to come in as peace keeping forces. As long as we, the invading army, is the occupying army, there will never be peace.

We can help them with financing and resources and in advisory capacity, if the Iraqis like. Our troops need to come home.

Then you'll be pleased to know that NATO is helping with the Iraq war effort. Does this mean that the war now has your blessings?
