Personally, I'm not complaining about that. Just that the leaf-blowers boss is unwilling to pay fair market wages for the service. And that the landscaping businesses who invested in all that equipment and built up their clientele are forced to cut wages to their employees who are citizens because the competition is cheating. You don't seem to get that the "guest worker program" is poised to hire a lot of educated workers, too. From places like India and China. Soon everyone's job will be at risk. Just because your a bilingual Anglo doesn't mean they're going make you supervisor. Not if there is someone waiting in the wings to do the job for less money.
But those on the right don't care. They have been cheerleaders for the rich for so long that they have forgotten (or ignored) a fundamental truth: the rich don't NEED them to act as their advocates. These "cheerleaders" are not going to be gifted, by the wealthy, with riches or privilege for acting as their shills. Rather, these conservative dupes are left with a lot of platitudes about the importance of defending the "wealthy" because a rising tide lifts all boats. Thus you will see a lot of "it's not your money" and "forcing the wealthy to pay a minimum wage is theft" arguments coming from those on the economic right. It's because they think that if they only spout this drivel long enough that they will be elevated to the ranks of the rich and powerful. It's nonsense.
It is rather unrealistic to think that ICE can handle the entire workload of the illegal problem this nation faces. It will take far more cooperation from the citizens of this nation if this problem is to be solved in any meaningful manner.
What about where these illegals live? The owners of property that willingly rent to illegals should face just as harsh of punishments as those that hire these same illegals. Its pretty hard to get employment if you are homeless. Many people would not be willing to rent to illegals if they knew that their property could be seized in order to pay for the fines they would receive.
You keep forgetting to add: "at the wages the employers are offering" at the end.
It makes a huge difference. By adding that, it indicates you have some awareness of the basics of economics, by neglecting to say that it implies you approve of the exploitation of the illegals by the employers, who otherwise would have to pay higher wages to Americans.
