All of you bleeding heart liberal types that claimed we had no business being concerned about Iran because they had every right to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes should apologize for the insults and slurs that were hurled at those of us who saw a clear and present danger here.

    But I'm sure you won't...

Can there be any doubt at all that Iran is seeking nuclear arms?

Can there be any doubt that the left will shift away from the notion that Iran only wanted nuclear power for it's people to the new notion that Iran now only wants nuclear weapons for self-defense?

The Obama administration is totally failing us in foreign affairs. So far, all he has accomplished on the world stage is to allow the socialists of the world to give him a group hug!

Here's probably the most unpopular thing I'll ever say on this forum:

I got no problem at all with Iran having nuclear weapons. I'm not gonna HELP 'em, but I'm not gonna stop 'em either.

As near as I can tell, the only who really cares about Iranian nukes, is Israel, and, sorry but, that's THEIR problem. I got nothin' to do with it.

We (the United States) screwed up BADLY with the Iranian People. They don't hate us, in fact, quite the opposite! But we've let them down on so many occasions, that now they're SCARED of our whimsical foreign policy, and what it might mean for them. We should be HELPING those people, not killing 'em with sanctions!

Well, there I said it. Now I'm gonna put on my flak jacket and wait for the shelling to begin.

You're right. We have screwed up badly with the Iranian people. We've disappointed them many times, and with Obama in the White House, they are set to be disappointed once again. The other day, on the anniversary of the hostage crisis, people came out, not to celebrate, but to protest their government. In years past, that day was a celebration. The citizens are oppressed there, and we've said we would help them in the past, only to renege.

But the problem is, if Iran gets nukes... It won't be long before they use them, most likely against Israel. Israel is starkly aware of this reality, and they WILL attack Iran to prevent them from getting nukes if they think they can stop them. Because if they don't, the result is a mushroom cloud over Tel Aviv.

Nah, I really REALLY don't buy that. The Mullahs are a little nuts but they're not suicidal. (they mostly hire others for that purpose)

Nah, all that means is they enter into a situation of "Mutually Assured Destruction", just like India and Pakistan.

Here is the ONE way in which it could be a problem: Iran, could use the bomb as "leverage" in order to more freely fund and train Hezbollah and the like. If Hezbollah could "act with impunity", they probably would. Right now, they're pretty well behaved. They lob the occasional rocket, which results in a ten-minute fire drill in the bomb shelter, and then they go about their business. Big deal. But, in the event that they get new funding and a new reason to be more dedicated, that level of annoyance would probably rise, and I mean, PTSD is the IED's gift to the enemy, and the impact of that kind of thing on children, is hardly "acceptable", from any perspective. Israel has unfortunately demonstrated that they're not all that great with the ground war anymore. Hezbollah gave 'em a pretty good run for their money last time, and most of the damage Israel caused was by air. And it occurs to me, that nations with fewer ground troops will tend to rely more on their "heavy weapons", like nukes. Everyone knows Israel has nukes, it's no secret. So, what's likely to happen, is more protracted ground fighting, and that's something that Israel can not afford. And hence the concern.

So I suggest that if anything, this development is more likely to bring the Israelis to the peace table, and that is something the current government does not want, hence the saber-rattling. Israel would have to fly through American airspace to get to Iran, so unless we give them permission they're not going to be able to do anything significant.

I still say we should be helping those people. We're pissing away a valuable ally.

Fuckin' A you won't get an apology from me.

The only clear & present danger I know of is the American War Machine,

brought to you by the rightwing chickenhawks that voted in the murderers 'BushCo'.

I expect an apology from you for your support of that.

Ha ha - the public mea culpa! I've been tryin' to get the 'Pubbies to do that for almost three years, Inky, and they just won't do it. They're still out there supporting Bush and Co. You're welcome to pick up the ball and run with it though - and I hope you have better luck than I did!

Cripes Non, it's pretty much cut & dry.

As far as chaos in concerned, Iran doesn't hold a candle to the mighty U.S. meatgrinder.

It doesn't surprise me that a fucking liberal that hugs up with socialists, communists and dictators thinks that America is the threat. I bet you bleed so much when you get called anti-American...

LMAO!! What a crock of shit! What is with these people that think that whoever has nukes over there, that they are going to use them? Do you really think that the Mullahs and clerics want to die? If they did, they wouldn't send their minions to die!! Lets not forget, who is the ONLY country to ever drop a nuke on another? Not that I disagree with dropping the bomb when we did...just fod for thought. Just like Inky said, we have more to worry about with the MIC than we do with the Iranians dropping the bomb on Tel Aviv.
