    Fun With Low Approval Ratings

    Fun With Low Approval Ratings

President Bush's Approval Rating on the Iraq war, according to Zogby (yes, I admit, I take his numbers with a grain of salt): 24 percent.
Congress' Approval Rating on the Iraq war, according to Zogby: 3 percent. (No, that's not a typo.)

Michael Vick's Approval Rating, according to the Wall Street Journal/NBC: 5 percent.

Yes. One of the greatest distortions here at PH is the notion that because the lefty bloggers are here in dominant numbers, they think the real world agrees with them.

    They also think that .....

Bush has more scandals than anyone in history..
Bush lies because he can't predict the future ...
Bush has made more personal attacks on his opponents than anyone in history

And that they win arguements when they get their pals to agree with them...

Well no shit. American wants the war ended and they have failed to do so. The Republicans keep actively supporting it and the Dems do not have the veto override votes to kill it.

Maybe if the Republicans in Congress would listen to the will of the American people who overwhelmingly want it ended, the poll numbers would rise to something respectable. Until they stop marching lockstep along quagmire road and blocking all efforts to end the war, the ratings will remain low.

Just remember it is low because America wants this bullshit war ended and those that are stopping that are the Republicans. That is what these numbers signal.

Bush's ratings being higher is no suprise. He will always keep 30% or so Generalapproval since 30% or so are "loyal Bushies" no matter how bad he fucks up. Of course the fact that only 24% support him on the war is a clear indication that America wants it ended, just as I noted above. It also indicates that even among those "loyal Bushies", some still do not approve of the war.

Bush has only one point more general approval right now than Nixon did the week before he was forced to resign. That is pitiful and it will be costing the Republicans the White House.

    Let's start a betting pool.

Rudy will beat Hillary by several million votes in 2008. That's my prediction.

Neither party should be so over confident that they make wagers at this stage of the game, con. That you and killer should be foolish enough to try means only that you don't understand the uncertainities of our world and the discontent of the American people. You base your wagers and conclusions on those that have announced, others have said they are considering a run for the office.

And fun with approval ratings, well you tend to forget that republicans make up that congress with such low approval ratings.
"And, still thinking about the 2008 elections: If the election for Congress were being held today, and you had to make a choice, would you be voting for the Republican candidate or the Democratic candidate in your congressional district?" If unsure: "And which party's candidate do you lean toward at this time?"

    7/15-18/07 Democrat 47% Republican 40% Unsure 13%
There are too many uncertainities to make a wager at this stage of the game and it is foolish to try to do so.

Oddly enough, I like Gingrinch right now, he has been the only honest politician to stand before the public in years.

    Foolish enough?

    Sounds like DA's desperate line.

I'm here to have fun and if one of my predcitions or theories gets validated, I consider that a win.

I'm not in the least bit confident. I'm guessing based on interpretation and gut.

    What's your guess?
