Funny, those who were opposed to the rioting spoke out against it all-the-while the media continued to blare images from the most impoverished areas that have the highest rate fundamentalism and no education. But then again, leave it to the Pope to say something so divisive. Nevermind that he's the representative of one of the largest religions who's pretty much next only to the Christian God.... Now where are those Templar Knights and Assassins again?

Sure, so then why did he omit all the wrongdoings of his own faith over time? God only knows the persecution and death that Christianity, let alone Catholicism, had wrought over Europe for many centuries. The least he could have done was approach the issue with some tact. And again, the cameras pointed toward the impoverished areas to meet their minimum threshold of muslim 'violence'. But then again, I'll have to keep this in mind the next time I see a hispanic gang member involved in a killing with large crosses tattooed to their body.

what are you saying? Are you going back to the old argument that Christians have done things bad in the name of Christianity? I thought we already walked this road.

There is a fundemental difference between the two, the main one being that the bible(New Testament), and more importantly Christ does not teach violence, nor does he advocate nor instruct people to be violent.

Oh, so he was supposed to go waaaaaaaaay in the past and badmouth his own religion so the Muslims wouldn't be offended over being badmouthed for what they're doing in the HERE and NOW? Whatever....

Because we have over a century of liberalism here in the liberal west which has allowed our societies to develop outside the control of its religious conservatives. There are now laws which prevent our religious conservatives from preventing things like abortion on religious grounds. Unfortunately in Middle Eastern societies religious conservatives are still the dominant force so their societies are far more backwards than ours.

I'm saying the kettle can't call the pot black. Plain and simple. Furthermore, you don't have teach violence to get violence, you can merely imply it by ways of oppression. This is why religious texts are always so placed out of context.

He obviously went way in the past to get a quote at a time where there was violence in Europe. But here, let me refresh you on some more goodies of our time. Ustasha and the Catholic Church, Vietnam and the selective starvation of Bhuddists in Vietnam because they weren't Catholic. Even the Rwandan massacre, which was based off the imperialist Belgians long ago, had catholic clergy involved in the massacre. In fact, there was a documentary not to long ago on the actions of a nun in the aiding of a massacre. Even to this day, we have those who violently attack gays based on religious belief.
