Which man is more right in their views on how to retain liberty?

Which of the people in this poll is most correct in their views on ways that society can be structured so that the people remain free?

James Madison - Through extended representation, the factions in society are able to be diluted, and government becomes much free-er from faction.

Alexis DeTocqueville - Schools for Democracy throughout the people; that is, the people must be taught how to take their freedom through local governments, like town govts.

Adam Smith/Milton Friedman - government must only do things that individuals cannot find profit in, and people should be allowed to trade as much as possible.

John Calhoun - You must take a majority of both the majority faction, and the minority faction.

Alexander Hamilton/John Maynard Keynes - An energetic government is needed to maintain an economy for people to thrive in.

Montesque - An extended government, one that encompasses a large among of area, will necessarily fall into despotism, because through fear of the military is the only way it can legitimately keep control. Thus, a confederated republic of states is the only way to ensure liberty.

Patrick Henry - No consolidated government. Give me liberty or give me death.

Melancton Smith - The government must be large enough to admit the people of the middle class, so that it will understand the circumstances of its constituents; and the government should be a mirror for the people.

Thomas Jefferson - 1 revolution every 10 years.

Government is nothing but a consolidation of power, and the only thing that corrupts men faster than power is women. I'm with Thomas Jefferson, we are long over due for a revolution.

Alexis DeTocqueville is the man. Democracy in America totally changed my understanding of the history and evolution of our political system.
